The Greensburg firm thanks patrons for 1883 trade and announces 1884 expanded machinery and facilities for furniture manufacturing. New designs include Chamber Suites Bedsteads Tables and Wash-stands with improved upholstery and all wool plush goods. Jobbers' prices will allow lowest quality goods only when warranted, with parlor suites and bed lounges in velvet and tapestry in stock.
The notice lists multiple rail lines labeled East West and North South with departure and arrival times, accommodations, mail and express services. It notes several trains taken off at Greensburg and surrounding routes and provides amended schedules for passengers and connections.
R. R. Surgi of Indianapolis seeks the Republican nomination for Treasurer of State. The Rising Sun Local nominates Hon. W. J. Johnston for Congress in this district, praising his two year old campaign and calling for another chance at the congressional dice.

Greensburg Stanporp states Gov. Will Cumback will not accept a nomination for Congress if offered and is not a candidate for any office. Rushville Republican regrets the move praising his abilities and usefulness for Congress while opposing Democratic fiscal policy. The New York Tribune contrasts Republican economics with alleged Democratic waste and district manipulation.
A W C T U meeting is set for Saturday at 3 PM in the First M E Church parlors. A Union Temperance Sunday School was organized last Sunday with Mrs. Wm Bonner superintendent and Miss Sallie Falconbury secretary, to be held at the Baptist church until a central space is found. State W T C U president Mrs M L Wells will speak Saturday and Sunday, with lectures at the Presbyterian church Saturday evening. Young people are invited.
The Iowa House elected Hon. B. F. Clayton of Pottawattamie County as Speaker pro tem by an almost unanimous vote. The Indiana man, aged forty five, is praised as an able speaker and master of parliamentary procedure. His firm farm in Pottawattamie County underscores the farmers’ strong representation in the House.

Beall of Los Angeles and died January 16, 1884, after a life marked by faith, family, and service.
