Heirloom Cord Bedstead Linked to Indiana Pioneer Days
Moriday John Joy of a South Washington Street second hand shop acquired an heirloom bedstead dating about 78 years old. The high post bed features wild cherry wood, cord construction, and eight inch square corded panels, resembling early beds used before slats or springs. The farmer near Hope sold the piece to Joy, reported by the Columbus Republican.

Passing of a Civil War Veteran Dodd
Joseph M. Dodd a Civil War veteran and longtime Wellington resident died at his North Blaine street home last Saturday evening from Brights disease aged sixty nine years seven months and twenty five days. Born April 12 1838 in Decatur county Indiana he served in the Federal army as a youth and later farmed in Kansas before moving to town fifteen years ago. A 1892 Christian church member and Grand Army post active in charity he leaves his wife and son George Dodd of Kansas City. Funeral services were held at his residence Monday at 10 30 conducted by Rev L T Faulders.
