The Indianapolis Star reports that Rev T H Kuhn of Richmond is likely to be renominated by the Sixth District Democrats to oppose incumbent Congress man James E Watson next year. Kuhn was narrowly defeated last year but narrowed the Republican edge. Watson faces no Republican opposition at this time.
Dr A R Beach has accepted an invitation to deliver the baccalaureate sermon at Milroy High School next Sunday morning. He is described as a scholarly gentleman and a deep thinker whose words will benefit all in attendance.
Tamina Day on Sunday May 12 will be observed by the local order with a church service at First M. E. church. Rev. A. R. Beach will give a patriotic address and the choir will provide special music. The church will be decorated in patriotic colors and the program will be patriotic in nature.
Hudson Gentry of Burney died Friday at about seven after a long siege of rheumatism and lung trouble. A retired farmer, he was sixty four, a wealthy man and a fine citizen. Survived by widow and four children including Mrs. George Eubank of this city. Funeral services were held at the Burney Baptist church Sunday at 10:30 conducted by Rev Listen, with interment in Marrow cemetery.
The Shelbyville News reports the jury failed to reach a verdict in the Minear damage case from Greensburg after a long trial. Most ballots favored plaintiffs 7 to 5, with the suit seeking $8,000 for damages to Emory P. Minear's building from a December 23, 1905 gas explosion.
A two story frame home on Mrs. Thomas Shirk’s farm southwest of Ewington burned Friday night around midnight, with most contents lost. Harry Templeton family escaped through a window unscathed though injured by glass and smoke. The house cost 2500 with 800 ins under Patrons of Husbandry Mutual. no homeowner insurance covered goods.
Dr. Elton B. Crowell died in Minneapolis at his home from Brights disease and heart failure after a life in medicine. A postmortem at the University of Minnesota Medical School revealed complex vascular disease. he was born in Cicero New York in 1869 and educated at Eclectic Medical Institute Cincinnati. Survived by a widow and one son, his life was honored by services led by three ministers and burial in Minneapolis.
