The Indianapolis Shelbyville and Southeastern Traction line will extend to Greensburg within a year. Surveyors have completed the route from Shelbyville to Greensburg. Attorneys filed condemnation actions against many landowners along the right of way from this city to southeastern Shelby County. The extension will run parallel to Big Four tracks through Prescott Waldron and St. Paul into Decatur County, with work expected to start in spring.

Miss Leota Wolford filed a bastardy suit against Robert Dillman in Harris City Tuesday. Sheriff Jeff Davis arrested Dillman in Shelbyville Wednesday and brought him to answer before Squire Powers Thursday. Dillman then married Wolford on Thursday and the couple reside near Harris City.
Sweden’s pavilion for the World’s Fair will be erected in Stockholm then dismantled and shipped to New York early January. It should reach the Fair grounds by around February 1 with completion guaranteed before May first. A foreman and five workers from the factory will accompany it to St Louis for assembly.
Warder Hamilton drove 120 head of cattle into Greensburg on Thursday. The herd averaged over 1600 pounds each and were described as perfectly fattened and blemish free. They were loaded for shipping to New York to meet export trade demand. Joseph Bhowatter, a well known farmer, died at Humbug on Wednesday.
Anthony Habig reports a hefty channel catfish weighing twenty pounds landed on Brazos River about twenty miles from Houston. Thompson Barry of Newpoint caught the fish during a visit to the Houston area while inspecting rice lands for potential investments. The catch drew local attention for its size and beauty.
The Greensburg Baptist church honored Rev Henry Davis with a purse of gold on Christmas morning as thanks for his year of faithful service. Collected by John Hart Schultz and Prof Jerman, the gift stayed within the congregation, which numbered about 300 members and reported growth spiritually and financially. Rev Davis’s reception reflected the strong esteem of his flock after a year in charge.
The church Sunday school shows steady growth with an average of 150 pupils. Fifteen teachers supervise the work. Glauton Welch currently leads as superintendent and will be succeeded by Carl Johnston at the start of the year.
Mr and Mrs William Styers hosted a family reunion at their Harris City area home on Christmas Day. The guests included immediate relatives and invited friends who enjoyed an elegant dinner with turkey and seasonal delicacies followed by lively conversation. Sheriff Jeff Davis and his wife attended and also joined in the feast.
The second annual Farmers state Congress meets February 2 3 4 1904 in room 12 at the state house Indianapolis to connect farmers as a class with a varied program. Mary A Collins of Franklin celebrated her hundredth birthday Thursday with preserved faculties though eyesight is impaired.
The fiscal year ending last August yielded a state wide statistical report by the State Superintendent Cotton due to the Governor January 1. It lists 17 143 teachers 9376 male 9418 female 93876 school houses and 767623 school age children with 560623 in school. The state school fund totals 10198716.09 up 54335.25 from the prior year and revenues from interest and tax equal 6260653. The year cost 299224.68 for 493 noncommissioned high schools at 2248 per pupil and 678901 for commissioned high schools at 30 per pupil. A commercial club is forming at Hope with efforts to boost the town.
