A Marion township note says Thomas Scheidler killed a wildcat four miles west of Napoleon at noon Thursday. The cat, a young animal, was chased by dogs and treed by a farmer before Scheidler’s three shots ended it. Authorities expect possibly more Wildcats in the area.
Bowers Grover Bower and Miss Della Bishop married at the Morgan Hotel parlors in Westport on Wednesday evening with Rev Brengle officiating. The couple planned a church wedding but waited for the minister, marrying at 10 30 after learning Rev Brenagle would return on the late train. The groom is son of Guy Bowers of Jackson township and the bride is well known locally.
The Indiana Live Stock Breeders Association will hold its annual meeting on Thursday January 4 1906 in the Supreme Court room at the State House in Indianapolis. Open to all Indiana farmers and stockmen, the program features Prof H W Mumford from the University of Illinois A P Grant from Winchester and A J Lovejoy of Roscoe IL with several prominent Indiana breeders including Loyd Mueg Kokomo W J Beckett Indianapolis and S M Lockridge president of the Shorthorn Breeders' Association.
An Indiana shopkeeper who refused to advertise in the local paper died in a bizarre accident. While hastening to close a sale, he stepped from a ladder and became entangled in cobwebs piled in a corner, strangling himself before help arrived.
The Shelbyville Liberal reports that all work on the Shelbyville Greensburg line will stop for winter. Grading laying ties and rails will halt while pole erection and some bridge work may continue by subcontractors at various points along the line.
A house near St Paul was saved from a blaze that started in a defective flue. The Worland family woke to their dog’s barking and two children were rescued with the fire causing about 2000 dollars in losses, 800 of which was insured.
Trustees plan a new administration building at Moore’s Hill College with a goal of raising fifty thousand dollars. A golden jubilee is set for June with Governor Hanly to break ground. Indiana Methodists, especially Moores Hill district, approve the project. Willna Miner of Burney traveled here Wednesday.
A landmark ruling by Judge Felt in the P.C.C.&S&L Railway Company versus the Indianapolis Columbus and Southern Traction Company holds that an interurban line cannot be required by law to construct overhead or undergrade crossings where it intersects a steam railroad two miles south of Indianapolis. This first case of its kind in Indiana carries broad implications for interurban routes with existing steam-road crossings.
Milroy resident R L Huddleson died at his home yesterday after a week of illness from appendicitis. A respected Milroy citizen loved by many, he will be laid to rest Friday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Schmuck officiating. He was well known in Decatur county and many will regret his passing.
Bloodhounds from Noblesville followed the bank robbers to the barn of Thomas Tilson. Trace ends there and authorities suppose the gang entered a rig at that location.
Oscar Weaver, president of Central Ave, awoke to find his back kitchen window open and about $400 missing from between a mattress and a feather bed. Investigators note the mattress was lifted and Weaver, who had recently faced alimony in a divorce action, had moved money from a bank amid rumors of a court ruling. theories place a thief, or a nocturnal plant and misplacement, as possibilities.
Hunter Kahn Invitations announce the marriage of Charles Kahn to Miss Edith Hunter on December 24. Both are popular local youths from Decatur County with many friends sending congratulations. They will reside on a farm near Letts after the first of the year. Mesdames Edna Bosley and Maud Berner of Indianapolis visited locals yesterday en route from Mulroy.
