River Days Queen Contest Heads Greene Weekend
Seven girls compete for the 1974 River Days Queen title beginning with a dinner at the Corner House and a parade Monday. Candidates include Jacqueline Kittleson Mishelle Wust Terri Starkweather Pamela Harden Sally Ackley Molly Burma Allison and Connie Feldman. Judges award 60 percent on an essay about community needs and 40 percent on charm and poise. The winner receives a $100 band and a portrait.

Greene River Days Parade Brightens Town Weekend
The Greene High School Marching Band will appear in the Good Old River Days parade Saturday morning. Band members are asked to report in full uniform by 9 45 a m for a short rehearsal at Greene High School. The Commercial Club sponsors River Daze promotions with extra specials across stores to boost local shopping and showcase Greene's goods and services.

Swimming Lessons Start June 24 for Greene District
Lessons begin Monday June 24 with testing for children 6 and older from 9 to 12. Tests determine class placement and Wednesday start. Jeff Tower Leads UNI Jazz Band I at Expo 74 Tour
Jeff Tower of Greene is among 21 University of Northern Iowa Jazz Band I students who returned from Expo 74 Worlds Fair in Spokane Washington. The tour included concerts in Seattle Victoria British Columbia and at the Expo site. The group traveled from Des Moines and gave four performances at the fair’s Outdoor Theatre after urban shows. The eight day trip drew strong reception.

Greene Commercial Club caravan promotes Those Good Old River Days
Greene CRD members and other youths joined a Greene Commercial Club sponsored caravan to spread word of Those Good Old River Days this weekend. The effort used brochures posters and a PA system from Mel's TV on Conry's House of Chairs' van with Vern Echelberger in charge. Accompanying drivers were M&M Bob Holway Mrs Graydon Anderson and Rosanne Needham, the CRD leader, with the event also held on Tuesday.
