Haying Timing and Quality For Dairy Farms
Farmers are urged to inspect and repair haying gear and harvest hay at the right stage. Protein content drops after bloom, so cutting too early reduces quality and tonnage. University of Minnesota specialists note a two percent protein difference can equal 11.4 tons of linseed meal per ten acres. curing in barns protects leaves and color, and hay-curing systems safeguard crops against weather and field losses.
