X ray aids detection of dwarf inheritance in calves
Iowa State College researchers Dr M A Emmerson and L N Hazel report an x ray technique detecting dwarf carriers in calves before 10 days old with about 75 percent accuracy. The method, used with Abilene experiments across several states, aims to reduce hereditary cattle dwarfism and losses up to 12 percent, guiding breeders toward dwarf free stock.
