Reflections on Marble Rock Area Past Year Events

A backward look at Marble Rock recalls a flood on Shell Rock in March flooding Aureola homes, a cement seawall built after the ice storm, and a renamed Mother's Cafe run by Dave and Mrs Dickenson. The Dean Tweed family opened a TV shop, a front upgrade occurred at the Drug Store, new post office boxes, and Rex retired after 36 years of rural mail routes. Birthdays and anniversaries mark the year as Merrick Ward turned 98 and the Bullemer couple celebrated 50 years. Multiple church leadership changes occurred, with pastors moving to Eldon Swaledale Waterloo Rockford Roseville and St Marys. Alumni picnic drew 116 attendees, UNICEF party returned, an asphalt plant explosion injured workers, and local youth enjoyed a new skating rink built by the Lions Club South of the Shultz home.
