Butler County residents are asked to seriously consider replacing the 1871 court house which critics call a fire trap and nuisance. The piece warns of fire or vandalism destroying irreplaceable records, urges a vote at the next primary, and questions spending $10,000 yearly on repairs rather than building a modern structure.
Mrs Autho Folkerts and Mrs Mann Mennen were honored at a birthday coffee Thursday morning at the home of Mrs Lester Eberline. Present were Mrs George Stewart Mrs Jake Brunes Mrs Gus Siefken Mrs George Jungling Mrs Fred Sherman Mrs Ralph Weiland and Mrs Minno Folkerts. Also Mrs John Hovenga was honored at a coffee Wednesday morning at her home with five friends and neighbors present: Mrs Harm Ubben Merle Hearn Mrs Howard Davis Mrs David Peterson and Mrs Clair Hearn.
Mrs. Dallas Hearn of Marble Rock was honored on her birthday Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Hearn. Attending were her daughter Lou Ann Hearn and Mrs. Vern Thompson with Jill of Greene and Mrs. Dean Ott and daughter DeAnn of Marble Rock.
Mrs Elmer Wintz of Allison visited Wednesday afternoon with Mr and Mrs George Stewart. Wendell and Gary Miller stayed Thursday with their grandparents Mr and Mrs Mann Mennen. George Stewart and Mrs George Stewart were dinner guests Wednesday with Mr and Mrs Harry Card near Sheffield. Mrs George Stewart hosted a birthday dinner for her husband George Stewart and Alva Morford Thursday evening.
Mr and Mrs Howard Davis arrived home Saturday after two months visiting their sons George Davis and family in Arivera California Dale Davis and family in Boulder Colorado and Ronald and family in Marshall town.

Robert Shook came from Iowa City to spend the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Dave Shook.
