Mary Irene Rivers daughter of Mr and Mrs T H Rivers of Sioux City Iowa and Harry Ambrose Stanton son of Mr and Mrs Ambrose Stanton of Greene Iowa were married Saturday morning August 23 at 9 00 o clock in St Josephs Catholic Church Sioux City The Rev Ralph W Reinhart officiated The altar bouquets featured white gladiolus and delphium blue mums and pom poms The organist was Mrs Swanson the vocalist Miss Carol George Miss Mary Lou O Connor was maid of honor in blue eyelet over white taffeta The attendants carried cascades of delphium blue and white pom poms The bride wore a floor length gown of nylon chiffon and lace overruffled tulle and taffeta with a jeweled lace crown veil and carried a white orchid with stephanotis on a white prayer book Her grandmother s wedding handkerchief accompanied her The best man was James Stanton and ushers included Charles Stanton and Don Rivers The couple will reside after a northern wedding trip at 265th Avenue SW LeMars

Dr and Mrs R F Ladwig returned from a five week tours of Alaska and northwest Canada. They traveled the Cariboo Trail Hart Highway and the Alaska Highway sections through British Columbia Yukon and Alaska visiting Dawson Creek Prince George Whitehorse Fairbanks Circle McKinley National Park Valdez Dawson City and Bonanza Creek. The couple logged about 10417 miles with 3700 miles on gravel and graded roads.

Country Cousins Meet Held at Charles City Pool
The Coldwater Country Cousins held their regular meeting on Monday August 18 at Swimming Pool Park in Charles City. The planned swimming was canceled due to pool closure, so members spent the afternoon skating. A picnic supper followed for 10 girls, 7 mothers and 2 leaders. They skated again on August 22.
