Patricia Fowler began work at Swab and Peet Drug Store Monday morning. Frank Noehl and James Graven visited Mason City. James and Norman went to Des Moines for Navy band, then via Tama to Indian Reservation. Numerous social visits noted across Waterloo Des Moines Allison and Hampton with extended families.
Bovee served as substitute teacher. Verle Barth and family visited Bert Kerr’s in Hempton. Leroy Payne and Esther Shaefer Payne welcomed a daughter born Thursday. Eleanor Pooley spent weekend with her parents in Greene. Francis Teeple moved into the McCarty house. Richard Marsh visited relatives from Des Moines. Bert Pooley hosted the Ecces ib club. Gamble Store manager Russell Meyers from Waterloo took over. Firestone dealer meeting in Mason City attended by Bathke Teeple Pooley Detra. Taney showcased a farm tractor tire film. Paul Pooley visited Kensett for a PTA meeting. Clair Weiss and wife welcomed a 9.2 lb baby girl born April 10. Local residents from Iowa State Teachers College and others spent the weekend at homes. Helen Newcomer travelled to Iowa City to visit sister Fern.
The Town Council met at Town Hall on April 18 at 7:80 PM with members Starkweather Barnett Krinkman Knapp and Attorney present. Minutes were read and approved, receipts and water analysis reviewed, and general fines and cemetery charges summarized. Also noted were library, sewer rentals, and local notices, plus community updates on residents, travels, and local businesses.
The Greene Iowa town council approves Edna Stauffer as work custodian at the park with a $45.00 monthly salary during park hours. The council also grants building permits to residents and reads ordinances adjusting sanitary sewer charges and water rates, noting license issuance and tabled details.
