The State Conservation Commission reports most Iowa state parks remain open on a primitive basis with Bellevue closed for road construction. Re opening of Bellevue depends on weather. No annual opening date. southern parks usually modern by April 15 to May 1 in the north. Contact park officers for facility status.
A five session NIAD information series called the MAD Challenge 5 will be held at Charles City Senior High School for Mitchell Butler and Floyd County leaders on April 14 26 May 10 17 and June 7. Sessions begin at 8 00 p m each evening. The program includes an ISU research briefing and a slide lecture with previews of remaining sessions. County Extension offices coordinate the meetings.

The State Conservation Commission announced the second experimental teal season in Towa running September 17 to 25. Daily bag limit is four teal with a possession limit of eight after day one. A free special teal hunting permit is required, with applications due by July 29 to the Commission in Des Moines.
County extension director Kay A. Connelly urges preventive steps as DED cases rise. Prune and burn dead elm wood to kill overwintering beetles, inject healthy trees with Bidrin before beetles emerge, and contact the Extension office in Allison for guidance and licensed applicators. Also, Iowa awards 475 state scholarships totaling 221086 for 1965–funded aid.
