Editor Florence Bloom announces Greendale's new paper The Sun will report news factually without political ties. The goal is balanced coverage with both sides heard, though limited staff may affect full impartial reporting. Readers must sign letters, anonymous mail is ignored.
In Greendale the public is urged to expand the local business district. The Green dale Co-op, holding key leases, is criticized for resisting competition and hoarding space. A rear relocation could open a deli and Sunday convenience shop, while a hair salon is proposed to serve village residents.

Mrs Fred Krajewski wins third prize in Milwaukee baking company contest. Saturday after noon confession at Catholic church now 3 30 to 5 p m, not 5 30 as previously stated.
Village Manager R J Bob Eppley expresses gratitude to Greendale residents for support on moving day and acknowledges the Public Works crew for snow clearance. He commends the town’s governance since its founding and pledges to serve the community.
At the Greendale village board monthly meeting the board voted to have the village attorney withhold an application for permanent bus service. Greendale has never had permanent service and current routes run under a temporary Wisconsin Public Service Commission schedule. Officials cited equipment shortages at the Transport company and favored delaying the petition until vehicle supply issues are resolved. The village manager will contact the Transport company and Mr. Bacon to align plans among interested groups.
At the February 6 1947 Wisconsin Banking Commission hearing in the Schroeder Hotel Greendale debated a paying and receiving station as a branch bank. Proponents included Greendale residents and Layton Park State Bank while opponents cautioned that a station would not be a regular bank. The mileage from Greendale to Hales Corners and public transit concerns dominated the discussion. A final committee decision was expected later.
The village faces a red ink snow removal bill far exceeding available funds. Officials expect to cover shortfall from the post-war reserve fund while hoping spring thaws ease the excess. Fears linger about possible damage to drainage and underground electrical lines during any prolonged warm spell. Walter Kroening assures the sewer system can handle the emergency.
Ed Van Ess leaves Greendale March 8 to manage the cooperative in Green Hills Ohio. He has led Greendale cooperative enterprises for three years.
The Van Ess family, active in the co op movement and among Greendale association's original organizers, will relocate to Green Hills and become residents on July 1, joining Ed. in their new home.
The Greendale village board discussed the legality of a Civic group funded Child Welfare clinic under the village health department. Concerns included village liability for injuries from inoculations and whether waivers signed by parents are legally valid for minors. The matter was referred to the village manager to consult the village attorney on legality and worker compensation.
Marriage licenses issued to Ivan Willoughby and Erna Dunst and to Joseph Wagner Jr. and Jeanetet Cartichiato list addresses on South 70s and 74th and 77th Streets in West Allis. The notices name the four individuals and their street addresses as filed in the records.
