Electric Signals in Terre Haute Offer Fire and Police Alarm Boxes

Mr S W Gazelrigg of Terre Haute installed Hess guest call and fire alarm system at the Commercial Hotel with 37 calls. He offered to supply 50 fire and police alarm boxes for the city at 275 dollars, to be owned by the city and mounted on telegraph poles with Yale locks. The city council may review the plan at the next session. The city’s Bell Company telephone order was rejected as unsatisfactory. The Hazelrigg system is from Central Electric Co of Chicago.

Free Library entertainments and local public notices in Greencastle

A program of entertainments under the Y union and W C T U aids the Free Library and Reading Room at Library Hall Talburt's block starting 7 30 pm Friday. Also obituaries births and county notices include the death of Harvey Alison pneumonia and various births in Greencastle with dates and names. The Fifth Congressional District nominating convention met in Greencastle with Joseph I Irvin named for district committeeman and Martinsville chosen as the nominating convention site. County committees and leadership changes noted.

Lincoln Seward feud reveals a pivotal presidential moment

In the February Century Life of Lincoln an astonishing note shows Mr. Seward proposed a plan that would have altered policy and nearly surrendered the presidency to the Secretary of State. Priests Expected to Transfer for Rushville Charge

Unofficial word says Rev. T. X. Logan of Greencastle will be reassigned to the Rushville Catholic parish. Logan told the Times he has not received formal notification from Bishop Chatard but expects the transfer. His likely successor is Father Mack.
