Captain Rudisill reports a cousin near Lincolnton sharing a letter about three remarkably aged relatives. Joseph Plank is 98. Mrs. Tethrow is 100 as of April. Mrs. Weaver is 102. They descend from Pennsylvania Dutch settlers who moved from the Susquehanna region to the Catawba River area about a century ago.

Paper Carnival by Christian church ladies at the opera house

The Paper Carnival, hosted by the Christian church women, will be held next Friday evening the 10th at the opera house. Features include a Paper Bazar led by Mrs. Brown and others, refreshments by multiple ladies, an art gallery, sugar house, and a sunflowers in melody display. Admission is 15 cents.

Cole Bros gave each employee a fine turkey last Thursday. Geo. Brooks remains master mechanic for Cola Bros. Mrs. Ed Landes has been sick but is improving.

Train No 33 Accident Claims Brakeman Nelson

On Thursday night near Bainbridge the Monon engine parted from the train and Nelson Andrew, a brakeman aged 32, fell under the cars as the crew moved off, the locomotive passing over him and killing him instantly. He left a widow in Lafayette.
