Death of Rome Detrick reexamined in a Socorro letter
A lengthy note from Rome B. Detrick’s employer at Socorro New Mexico dated July 28 1881 completes the account of his untimely death and will be read with mournful interest by his many friends. The correspondence was published with the family letter from Mrs W L Detrick of Greencastle Indiana.

Death of Rome Benny in Montana Camphouse Accident
James G. Benny writes of his son Rome Benny shot by his own firearm while camping near the Moggollon Mountains. Rome died at 2:30 p.m. July 5 after being rushed to Alma and buried July 6 atop a hill near the town. Benny recalls Rome’s cheerful spirit, regret over mishandling the gun, and notes Rome was well liked and would have prospered here.
