Indictments Reach Fifteen In Klan Probe In Indiana
Indiana Federal grand jury returns 15 indictments in a sweeping conspiracy case tied to the Traugott Clothing Store fire. W. Lee Smith, once head of the Indiana Ku Klux Klan, is among those charged with conspiracy to violate the Dyer Act by transporting stolen automobiles. Smith could not post a 25000 bond and is jailed in Marion County. Other defendants include Jacob Wohlfeld his son Mortimer and Frank R Wolf a department store partner. The case stems from the August Traugott fire and stolen goods linked to an Indianapolis ring.

Goshen Indiana Sept 27 Charles A Jackson former county agricultural agent here slept through the Florida hurricane despite damage to his Lake Okeechobee home. He wrote of destitute families housed in a school house and noted his calm during the storm that killed many around the lake.

Former Waveland Man Injured in Kansas City Incident

Divorce Granted in Putnam Circuit Court
Goldie Gardner of Roachdale was granted a divorce from Russell Gardner of Greencastle on cruelty grounds in the Putnam Circuit Court. The couple married May 12, 1926 and separated in November of that year. James & Allee represented the plaintiff.

Fire destroys historic Cloverdale residence
The residence of Mary Appleby at Cloverdale burned Sunday afternoon, a county landmark built about sixty years ago. Charles Jewett of Indianapolis visited friends here yesterday. School closed at the Second Ward and high schools today due to furnaces being out of order. Miss Julia Druley returned from the East this morning.

The last will of Julius Sudranski a Green Castle merchant who died recently has been filed for probate. The Polish native left about 10000 dollars for distribution after debts, with one fourth to Solomon L Sudranski another fourth to Mrs Bessie Goldberg a fourth to Herbert Sudranski and Charlotte Sudranski and one fourth to Joseph Sudranski and Lester Sudranski as grandson. The will was executed July 25 1927.

A Nash sedan owned by Russell Martin of Putnamville lies wrecked at the west end of Cloverland on the National Road after skidding at 2 am crossing streetcar tracks and entering a ditch. The occupants fled and it is unclear if anyone was injured. The top is torn off and the body detached from the chassis.
