Date Set For Fall Festival

Booster club members meet Tuesday night and approve a three day festival with four hundred dollars appropriated to the organizing committee to arrange the program for the event.

Green Castle Sets Dates for Grand Fall Festival

Greencastle officials approve October 28 to 30 for the grand fall festival with three days of band concerts and amusements. The Green Castle Boosters Club allocates 400 dollars to the festival committee. The group also eyes a November banquet to elect new officers and discusses a May centennial celebration. They seek an interurban car stop for eastbound riders to arrive before 8 AM.

Habeas Corpus Petition Filed for John Godsey in Putnam Court

Charles S. Batt filed the petition on behalf of state farm inmate John Godsey. Batt alleges excessive fine and lack of proper warrant and affidavit, and that Godsey was not shown to have been arrested or arraigned. No hearing date set.

Presbyterian church to build new manse by Heath firm

W R Heath awarded contract to erect a modern church manse. Construction starts immediately with brick veneer first story and stucco upper level, English design, library on second floor with built in shelves and fireplace, basement store and laundry, first floor hall living spaces, lockers, and upstairs bedrooms and bath. Completion expected by November 1.

The Woman's Christian Temperance Union met Tuesday with President Mrs. Henry Ranney. After devotions led by Mrs. M. E. Ogle, members reviewed the year's work and elected officers. Flower Mission and Sabbath Observance reported extensive efforts, with Mrs. Hattie R. Moore and Miss Lenore Webb contributing significantly.

Mrs. M. S. Heavenridge is elected president of the W C T U with officers including vice president Mrs. Henry Ranney treasurer Mrs. A. V. O’Daniel and recording secretary Mrs. Mary Lockwood. Miss Ella Adams heads anti narcotics and scientific temperance and Miss Tinling lectured before schools and public meetings.

Accident Attracts City Doctor and Commuter Injuries

Albert Aiken of the Big Four, living north of the Monon tracks, was injured when the motor car axle broke and threw him from the car this morning. He suffered facial and head cuts, a sprained left arm, and other bruises. Aiken was brought from Delmar by hand car. Dr. McGaughey said injuries are not serious. Dr. C F Overstreet spent the day in Indianapolis.

Deny Entering Sorority House at Greencastle

City detectives probe links between Harry Krause and Fred Spears and an attempted sorority robbery at DePauw University in Greencastle. The pair, found sleeping in a freight car, admit being in Greencastle but deny involvement. They face burglary charges in Danville Illinois and claim other past robberies in multiple cities.

Daylight Fireworks and Disease Prevention Day in Greencastle

Greencastle plans a big daylight fireworks display on Friday October 1 as part of Disease Prevention Day. City officials and county health leaders will organize a countywide school parade with high schools urged to participate. An appropriation by the Booster Club will fund an elaborate fireworks show after the parade. Also announced is the engagement of Miss Margaret Kreigh and Paul Cowan with a china shower marking the occasion.
