Mrs Delmont testified she brought liquor from Los Angeles in the party's car but had Miss Rappe not touch the liquor. She added Miss Rappe tried to persuade Arbuckle to visit during her illness, but he refused.
Dr John F Cully 68 a longtime Bainbridge physician died suddenly at his home around 8 30 am after returning from an early morning call of neuralgia of the heart He leaves a widow and two children Lilly and Donovan Cully both at home He came to Putnam county from New York and trained under Dr French Stone a notable Bainbridge physician His passing is described as a severe loss to the Bainbridge community
The official count shows 218 696 votes cast in the constitutional amendment election held in Indiana. Noble county results arrived late. Voters on special election totaled 1 227 405 fewer than last fall's general registration. Proclamation preparations under way in the Governor's office. Governor McCray expected to issue the proclamation tomorrow after a meeting with Attorney General Lesh.
The will of late Chicago attorney Fred H. Atwood makes public today. It states his two sons Ephraim Henry Atwood and Ivan J. B. Atwood will forfeit a $400000 inheritance if they smoke or drink while their mother remains alive. If the widow remarries, she loses the bequest to her. The sons are members of a local law firm.
American officials at Coblenz warn German civilians that German girls should refuse marriage proposals from common soldiers unless the women are provided with enough money to satisfy immigration authorities they will not become state dependents. The dispatch notes higher living costs in America and insufficient soldiers' pay.
Congressman Everett Sanders visited Greencastle to meet Putnam County Republicans seeking posts such as postmasterships rural route carriers and other jobs. James Fisk and Joe Williams pressed for appointments while Green Castle postmastership is already secured by Mayor Jack Bryson and Rupert Bartley.
Warrants issued in Circuit Court charging Elwood officers Arthur Atwood and Charles Justice with bootlegging whiskey. Atwood allegedly sold two quarts to Emmett Tipton for 25 dollars, Justice accused of selling a pint to John Huckerson for four dollars. Affidavits signed by Edward Casto. Sheriff Lewis dispatched to arrest.
R A Davidson formerly managed True and Hixon Lumber yards here and now lives in Wabash Indiana. He is in the lumber business there and his daughter will enter DePauw this fall.
Roy Parse, 16, confessed to shooting his sweetheart Louise Willoughby, 17, whose body was found at his home in Terre Haute Indiana. Police say he admitted firing twice after a dispute over her attentions to other boys and is held on murder charges.

The Putnam County Sunday School Association hosts its Annual Convention at Canaan M P Church near Fillmore on Sunday September 15 at 2 and 7 pm. A large countywide attendance is expected. The Township with the biggest delegation earns the Attendance Banner, currently held by Marion Township. Jane Farmer Nellie Young and Professor L E Mitchell will give strong messages. Machines meet the Interurban at Coatesville and Greencastle travelers should take the 1 20 car.
Clarence Wilder, named in confessions linking Leon Parks and Harvey Church to the slayings over a $5,400 car, is to be held by police. Parks and Church accuse Wilder of leading the plot to rob and dispose of Daugherty and Ausmus, whose bodies were dumped in a river and a garage.
At Meharry Hall the first DePauw chapel of the year welcomed new instructors led by Dr. Grose. New faculty include Miss Jean Tilley and Miss Nataline Habein in English, Robert E. Williams in Public Speaking, William R. Sherman in Economics, Ernest R. Smith in Geology, Andrew W. Crandall in History, Miss Loew T. Bowen directs Physical Education for Women, Trving Gray in Biology, Harriet E. Greenleaf in Mathematics, Fred A. Walker in Physical Education and Athletics, FE.8. Krantz in Gymnasium for Men, with benediction by Dr. Gobin.
The Greencastle city council orders state Utilities Commission action to reduce water rates and instructs the city marshal to limit gasoline use. It fixes the tax rate at 76 cents and approves bidding for Seminary street improvements. The council notes track alignment issues with the Interurban line and approves a fire damages claim as well as a regular claim ordinance.
DePauw University reports new pledges across multiple fraternities. Delta Sigma Psi includes Russell Bray Russel Knox.
Hog prices opened steady to lower with hogs under 250 lb at 8.15 to 8.40 dollars and top 8.50. Heavy hogs as low as 8.00 remained steady. pigs 8.90 and feeding pigs 7.50. Sows quoted 6.50 to 6.25. about 8,000 hogs were sold, 3,000 to local killers. Cattle steady, calves 9.00, lambs 9.00, sheep 4.00. repairs at the fire station entrance noted.
