Police continue grilling Frank Fry 26 and Herbert Becker 21 as victims identify them in seven up to nine holdups near Crawfordsville. On Wednesday evening September 10 at 6 oclock a Democrat picnic supper will be held in Forest Park for all Clay county Democrats and families. A mass meeting will follow in the park auditorium with Walter Myers of Indianapolis and C C Gillen of Greencastle as principal speakers. the Hoosier Four will provide music.
A weather note reports chances of showers starting tonight in the south and by Wednesday in the north. Clouds will increase overnight in northern areas. Warmer temperatures are expected tonight in the north and central regions with a further shower potential on Wednesday or Wednesday night.
William Blanchard son of Prof and Mrs William Blanchard and DePauw graduate, has accepted the position of director of music at Sidney High School Ohio. He will leave tomorrow to begin work next week directing the school band and orchestra and supervising all high school music.
Among 111 freshmen entering Indiana University on state scholarships for high scholastic standing are Putnam county students Alice Hanna and Verna Brothers. The 1919 act funds county scholarships, with appointments by county superintendents based on high grades across the full high school course. Two county graduates receive this award yearly, and each scholarship cancels contingent fees.
The Putnam County League of Women Voters will hold an open meeting at 7 30 pm in the county courthouse assembly room. Dr L N Hines president of State Teachers College Terre Haute will discuss The Proposed Revision of the Constitution of Indiana. All voters are invited to inform themselves before the fall election.
Marion county grand jury in Indianapolis continues the High School Road murder investigation. Witnesses include motorists Jack Allen of Clayton and Ruby Blue of Indianapolis. Sheriff George Lowingler detective John Stump and Deputy Coroner Dr Lawrence A Lewis testified. Schroeder admits picking up a hitchhiker and says the death occurred when his car left the road and he burned the body to avoid a murder accusation. The probe will continue for several days with more subpoenas issued.

The Green Castle Methodist Episcopal church held its annual church school board meeting in the community hall. Rev. Albert E. Monner spoke on goals for the year. Officers elected included Guereal superintendent Dr. Vir Blanchard and department heads E B Bowman R A Owe Grafton Longden E R Bartlett O T Higgins K K Bartlett J E Sharp F P Huestis Leonidas McNeeley. The October meeting will elect College and Cradle Roll superintendents. Home Coming Sunday is planned for September 14.
A large hoot owl is displayed in the window of K P Mullins store. The nearly extinct bird was caught by Henry Phillips north of Greencastle and is planned to be donated to a park where birds are kept.
Petition drives opposing Greencastle Airport rise amid town debate. City Council adopted a small land purchase levy as part of the fall budget, with airport conditioning and equipment costs funded by government, presenting the project as a major modern improvement at minimal local cost.
Miss Elizabeth Shoup DePauw senior and Alpha Phi president was operated on for appendicitis at Putnam County hospital. Early reports said her condition improved, though it worsened to serious later yesterday. Dr Thomas Noble of Indianapolis performed the operation. Her home is Covington.

Amid celebrations for General Uriburu the city suffered a two hour gun battle as troops and celebrants clashed by the post office and Plaza Mayo. Officers fired from government rooftops and cruisers shelled streets. hospitals reported many dead and wounded.
