Robbers struck a Vermillion restaurant on the west side of the square Sunday night. They entered through the rear, took about $5 from the cash register and several boxes of cigars. The theft occurred between 9 pm Sunday and early Monday morning. authorities suspect a local who knows the building.
Irew Hanna, a prominent Greencastle businessman, sold his furniture store and retired from the undertaking business which he retained when the store was sold. Hanna had run an undertaking firm for many years and was known as a leading member of the profession.
Meetings at the Baptist church closed Sunday night after a week of services. Attendance was strong and nine accessions were reported, six by baptism and three by letter or experience.
Members are called to attend the Baptist church business meeting to elect officers for the ensuing year. The church prayer meeting precedes by staying night, and all regular members are urged to be present for the slated elections and church affairs.

The Indianapolis hog market opened with steady prices as receipts reached 9 000 hogs, 800 cattle, 300 calves, and 400 sheep and lambs. Average sales hovered around 10.50 with tops to 10.75. pigs at 10.65 and sows at 9.60. Cattle and calves showed steady to strong activity, best veals at 14.00, and top lambs at 10.00.

Police arrested two men, Martin Hamman of Cincinnati and Charles Schwibbe of Vincennes Indiana, after information led to a room where they drying ink on more than 3000 dollars in ten dollar counterfeit notes. Police seized the complete outfit, described as one of the most thorough found in Cincinnati.

A German physician Dr Kuttner linked a family illness to carpet dyes containing arsenic. He exposed five members to anemia like symptoms, which subsided after removing carpets. Further tests showed arsenic in carpets and traces in patients’ blood, confirming the source.

In Putnam Circuit Court Dan Besser owner of the Big Four Mills faces a dispute with farmer Frank Youndt over wheat payments for two loads on August 10 and 11. Besser contends a $390.05 check should have been $336.95, while Youndt claims the price was $2.30 per bushel. Attorneys Hays, Murphy for Besser and Fay Hamilton for Youndt represent the parties.

The funeral of Elijah Grantham a longtime Putnam county resident was held Sunday afternoon at 1 o clock at his south Jackson street home. Rev Victor Raphael conducted services with Rev Levi Marshall assisting and burial at Roachdale cemetery. Six grandsons served as pallbearers and many from out of town attended.
President elect Harding and Mrs Harding cruise aboard the Pastores returning to the United States from a Panama Canal Zone visit. He relaxes aboard as official duties subside and plans a Kingston arrival with a brief island stop before resuming travel. He praises observing regional issues and reiterates a spiritual partnership between the United States and Panama.
DePauw University and the Greencastle city schools resumed classes this morning following the Thanksgiving holidays, signaling a return to normal academic routines for students and staff.
