Bon fire lights up the ball park as DePauw University students and hundreds of townspeople celebrate a football win over Wabash. The event included a DePauw band, Drum Corps, snake dance, and a down town parade amid loud cheers and wave yells.
Interest in revival meetings at the Baptist church grows daily and attendance remains high. Directors of music Mrs Barkman and her husband will conclude their work tonight as they depart for another engagement. Meetings run through Sunday night with the topic God’s Power to Save. Everyone is urged to attend and bring friends.
Robert Smiley twenty, son of Mr and Mrs Bert Smiley of Martinsville Street, suffered a quarry accident at Midwest Stone Co. where a rock fragment struck his eye, destroying sight. He worked at former AC Stone Co. quarries. The incident occurred on Monday.
Judge James P Hughes was in Bra today on legal business. Mrs and Mrs Raymond Fouts travel to Lafayette for Thanksgiving with Mr Fouts parents. Mrs F A Arnold to Peoria Ill Wednesday for Thanksgiving with daughter Mrs J L Scripps. Mrs Fred Smith and children go to Neoga Ill for Thanksgiving. Dr W W Tucker in Rushville visiting Mrs Glenn I Tucker seriously ill. Mrs Tucker improving. Flossie Vermillion Hoagland recovering after operation in Indianapolis. Mrs James Cherry operated on in Indianapolis Hospital. Cherry brother of John Cherry formerly from this city.
Work on the Williamson house at Washington and Vine streets to clear space for the Masonic Temple is rapidly advancing. The entire rear section of the structure has been demolished.
Rev. H C Clippinger travels to Bloomington for a district Methodist Hospital meeting. He returns to address High School pupils at 1 PM Wednesday during Thanksgiving services. Rev. I Carnes assists Evangelistic work at Locust Street Church at 7 30 PM in Rev Clippinger’s absence.
The Tank cottage at Green Bay claims to be Wisconsin’s oldest building and possibly the Northwest’s, built in 1776 at the start of the Revolutionary War. Once the center of legal and religious life, it now serves as a museum with Dutch and world relics, later owned by Nels Owne Tank and the Tank family before becoming Wisconsin Historical Society property.
Imperial War Museum veterinary statistics show 484 143 animals died in all theatres except Dardanelles. Camels suffered higher mortality, with 86.52 percent in Mesopotamia in the war's final year, 2281 camels dying in service. The war killed 15 percent of animals yearly in British armies.
A Vancouver British Columbia Methodist mission operates five gas boats to serve lumber camps and isolated coast Indian villages. Previously a large sea-going boat patrolled the coast distributing literature, holding religious services, nursing the sick, and aiding loggers and trappers. The old vessel was sold to the Dominion government. profits funded smaller sturdy boats. Each boat has a captain who can preach and provide first aid, with some boats aided by women assistants.
Greencastle Chamber of Commerce filed with the Indiana Public Service Commission to order Pennsylvania Railroad to restore a switching charge from Limedale junction to local industries. War caused cancellation and a prohibitive road haul rate, with hearing date not yet set, but favorable action could attract new enterprises to the line.
Putnam county reports record demand for hunter licenses. County clerk Harry W. Moore awoke to process mail orders as buyers rush in. By 9 am twenty five licenses were sold with Saturday and Tuesday high. many buyers came from outside the county, including Indianapolis residents. Hunters are expected to fill the woods from dawn to dusk on Thanksgiving Day.
Mr and Mrs Earl Ellis wrote friends from Miami Fla about a pleasant winter trip. They drove to New York and took a boat to Jacksonville then drove to Miami where they reside at 115 Cora Park.
The Thanksgiving recess at De Pauy University begins after Tuesday classes and runs through Monday November 29 allowing students to return home for Turkey Day. The high school break starts at Wednesday dismissal and ends Monday morning.
Articles or money for the Metho dist Children's Home Thanksgiving dinner will be gratefully received by Mrs Tuttle and Mrs Pruitt representing Locust Street Church as a special committee. The appeal asks the public to help give the children a happy Thanksgiving with a beautiful service.
The annual Wabash DePauw clash in Indiana was a tight 0 to 0 game until late. DePauw fumbled at the Wabash eleven, Wabash punted from its 45, keeping the scoreless contest in a tense finish.
In a dusk game at DePauw, Galloway dropped the ball from the fifty two yard line and kicked it as Ogden’s perfect pass led the play. The ball sailed between the uprights, clearing the bar by a strong margin, prompting a roar from the crowd as teammates mobbed the scorer.

A large meteor struck Howesville near Kingwood, Preston County, WV, exploding and burying itself in the earth. The blast rattled the area, damaged an automobile, and left occupants dazed but uninjured. reports say Howesville has no telephone service, hindering details.
The Red Men will hold their annual rabbit supper on Saturday night after Thanksgiving in their rooms on the east side of the square. All Red Men and their families are invited.

The Feed Stores and Mills will be closed all day Thursday for Thanksgiving. Local businesses observe the holiday with customers advised to plan accordingly.
Mrs. Florence Dunbar will spend Thanksgiving in Lafayette as a guest of Mrs. Alice Steward.
Lee Hathaway a 50 year old farmer three miles west of Brick Chapel was struck in the mouth by a horse hoof after he struck the animal with a grain sack while it ate fodder. Hathaway suffered knocked out teeth a mashed nose and facial cuts and bruises. The horse was unshod and a young animal.
Dr. Frank F. Hutchins medical director and superintendent at Marion branch of the National Military Home has resigned. He departed for Indianapolis after declining to explain his action amid changes announcing the home would lose its status and become a sanatorium for shell shocked veterans. Mrs. Hutchins, formerly Miss Luella McWhirter, is noted locally.
Warne T McCray of Indiana seeks a strong lower house leader to back his legislative program. Several candidates are listed but McCray favors John P McClure of Anderson, with backing yet to be confirmed as Goodrich forces loom in the Legislature.
The Moose Lodge will hold a regular session Thursday evening. Special business is on the agenda along with social items and refreshments. Jake Kiefer is named Dictator MM. Ss. Miller serves as Secretary.
