Roachdale Boys Receive Farm Terms For Petty Theft
Two Roachdale youths were sentenced in the Putnam Circuit Court by Judge James P. Hughes. Oscar Lane, 18, received five months at the Indiana State Farm and a $5 fine plus costs, with lane to the penal institution for leading petty theft. Warren McCloud, 22, had his penal farm term suspended and was ordered to leave Roachdale for Kansas to work in wheat fields, with a warning that future thefts could renew imprisonment. Police arrested them yesterday on charges of stealing auto accessories from Mike Pitman. Deputy Alva Bryan recovered the property. A new general assembly law allows petit larceny up to five years and a $500 fine, with judge discretion on imprisonment at the Penal Farm.
