Jewel theft suspected as boxes found in pasture
In Putnam county a cluster of jewel boxes and cases were found in a pasture near Charles Klein's home on Monday. Investigators consider a gang of jewelry thieves may have crossed the county, abandoning containers from a moving car. The only ownership clue is a paper bearing Rothschild with Chicago and St Louis addresses. Mrs Ruth Titus reported the find and described a large black sedan seen earlier. No robberies are reported. one theory suggests a traveling salesman turned thief to rob his employer.
