Greencastle construction activity grows as cement plant expansion frees up workers for new houses on Poplar and College avenues. Northwood grading advances and a $199,000 Masonic Home project gains financing, with sales pavilion planned and local chamber offering aid for financing.
The Rainbow regiment celebrates its anniversary with a dance at Oriental Lodge Hall on Twenty Second Street and Central Avenue in Indianapolis. All members are urged to attend and enjoy the festivities.
Crawley and Bugler building contractors have bought a lot in North Wood and will start a six room modern residence next week. The house will be sold immediately after completion.
The Presbyterian church held its annual church and congregational meeting last night at 7 30. Reports showed a marked increase with finances in splendid condition and some departments reporting 400 percent gains. During the present pastorate 93 new members joined. The pastor and wife received thanks and salaries were increased effective January 1, 1920. E C Dodson and G E Black were reelected elders with E E Black elected as elder and W H Hawkins named elder emeritus. E E Coffman and H C B Werneke reelected deacons. E E Black reelected trustee. J C Bridges elected to fill the unexpired term of the late S Eugene Whiteside. The session closed with a chicken supper. 175 guests attended.
The city federation of Parent-Teacher Clubs holds a union meeting in the high school auditorium on Tuesday May 18 at 3 o clock. State Superintendent L M Hines will address attendees speaking on an educational topic.
