Former minister accuses wife of infidelity and interference in their son's upbringing. He claims she allowed the boy to join a du pauw fraternity while alleging other women’s involvement.
Ovid E. Mark former Centenary M E F Church pastor sues Pearl V. Mark for divorce claiming she falsely accused him of mental adultery with women in church and that she meddled with their son Frank a DePauw University student. He seeks divorce and custody amid allegations of cruelty and interference. Also notes Mt Meridian smallpox victim Lafe McCoy and city council meeting plans with routine agenda.
Large crowd attends the funeral of Lucius P. Chapin at the Presbyterian church in Greencastle. The former mayor and longtime postmaster died at his sisters' home and services were led by Rev. Thomas Younger with ritual by G A R Greencastle post and Woman's Relief Corps. Burial followed at Forest Hill cemetery. Pallbearers named A A Black J T Wilson W W Jones E W Stout William Hawkins Worth Williams.
The Booster Club 10 is arranging a St Patrick's Day community feed banquet. Committee members are appointed and work is underway on preparations for the May festival.
At a meeting of the executive committee Jesse Hugnes was named chairman to organize the May Festival. A St Patrick’s Day community banquet is planned with members each bringing dishes. A venue for the banquet may be the university armory as the Greencastle Boosters pursue growth and future activities.
Evansville youths Wendell R. Phillips and Walter C. Gleason arrived in Greencastle on the first leg of their tramp to the Panama-Pacific Exposition in California. They stayed with Sam Purdue, plan to reach Indianapolis by Wednesday, and will seek greetings from city and state leaders while continuing toward Chicago and the Lincoln Trail. They average about thirty miles daily and refuse rides, selling postcard pictures to cover expenses.
Mrs Ben Riley, longtime Greencastle resident, dies at her home on East Hanna Street after a month long illness. She would have turned 38 today.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 50 pm at Locust street church for Mrs Ben T Riley of Greencastle who died Monday night at 11 after paralysis and complications. She is survived by her husband, one son William, mother Elizabeth Allen of Indianapolis, three brothers Frank Paul and Charles, two sisters Mrs William Little and Mrs Edward Lloyd. Burial is in Forest Hill cemetery.
An ejectment suit in Justice of Peace Phillip Frank's Court seeks possession of a Floyd township farm and damages of 100 dollars from Laura B. Foster. George W. Pickett and Polly A. Pickett sue via attorneys Cullen and Allee for William Ader's land, alleging Foster refused possession after a verbal lease. Foster will plead her own case per a prior statement. The weather and roads are noted as improving with lingering mud in spots. Monroe township farmer John Ferrand dies at his home near Somerset after a long illness. funeral plans pending.
