Man Fined For Assault After North End Restaurant Incident

Local man who severely injured Artie Boswell in a June 18 fight at the North End restaurant was found guilty of assault and battery and unable to pay the $50 fine and costs.

Storm Damages Property Across County

Heavy rainfall and strong winds caused extensive damage to houses barns and crops in the county on Friday afternoon. Rainfall was not uniform across the area.

Storms Cause Wide Damage in South Putnam County

A Friday electrical and wind storm damaged many properties around Brick Chapel and Bainbridge in South Putnam. Wind toppled trees and destroyed timbers, corn cribs, and a silo while roofs were torn from homes including Ollie Wright’s residence and Ed Due’s house. The No. 10 Madison Township school suffered severe damage from a lightning strike, and hail damaged young corn. Several farmers reported losses of horses and trees, with additional minor damages across the county.

Talmadge Dillon of Roches Ter, a 1914 DePauw graduate, accepts offer from the local school board to return as faculty at Greencastle. He had a good school record while a student.

Dillon Named Mathematics and Athletics Coach at Greencastle High

Talmadge Dillon of Rochester Ind has accepted the position as instructor of mathematics and athletic coach at Greencastle High School. He will replace J P Johnson who resigned after two years. Dillon a DePauw University graduate with class of 1914 and a Sigma Nu member, will begin work next fall.
