Man Sentenced on Assault Charge in Clay Circuit Court

Herbert Snoddy of Turner received 140 days on the state penal farm plus a $10 fine and costs from Judge Hutchison after pleading guilty to assault and battery on John Boyer of Harmony. The brutal attack at Beck mine west of the city last Friday fractured Boyer’s nose and wrist after Snoddy allegedly attacked him during work.

Terre Haute School Girl Ends Life in Cistern

Swearington Swearington a 19 year old Indiana State Normal School student and Garfield High School graduate disappeared from her Terre Haute home early Friday. Her body was found in a cistern with a note saying she would be there. Friends said she had been in a nervous condition from overstudy and overwork.

Recommendations to the district conference for preacher licenses were approved for Brothers Jones Cash Talott Pritchett and Greer.
