The 1929 DePauw commencement celebrated the eighty first class with degrees conferred by President George Richmond Grose. Distinguished guests included General Lewis and Bishop McDowell. Notable gifts supported student funds and a new athletic field named Blackstock Athletic Field.
In Duluth Minnesota on June 15 a mob about five thousand overpowered police, seized suspects tied to an assault on a young white girl, held mock trials at the police station, found three guilty and turned three acquitted back to police as bricks and water hoses were used without gunfire.
The Odd Fellows and Rebeccas will hold annual memorial services Sunday at Locust M E Church at three o clock. Dr H C Clippinger Past Grand Chaplain will deliver the address. Members of Putnam Lodge 45 and Greencastle Lodge 348 meet at their halls at two for a procession to the church.
Board of Review figures show 1920 assessments up over 1919 across most townships. Total county gain reaches 798,141 with losses totaling 95,595 in Franklin Greencastle Monroe Clinton Floyd Marion. gains include Greencastle City Jackson Roachdale Bainbridge Madison Washington Warren Jefferson Cloverdale and Millcreek among others.
