A detailed schedule for Sundays Children Day exercises at the Presbyterian Church begins at 10 49 a m with Rev V L Raphael and Mrs V L Raphael in charge The program lists recitations songs and classes from Busy Workers to Rosebuds plus a baptism reception and an evening service at 7 30 p m including a Young Peoples Christian Endeavor.
President George R. Grose hosts a senior class reception at the Towers on East Seminary Street. The DePauw Senior class play Bunty Pulls The Strings is set for June 14 at the Little Theatre. Sigma Delta Psi defeats Lambda Chi to win inter fraternities basketball 15 to 13 and earns the cap. three-peat holders may keep it. Final exams run all next week with senior exemptions, Amerex overseas group banquet at Vermillion hall with Edwin Holt Hughes Jr and Bishop Hughes as toast subjects.
The program for Decoration Day at New Providence Church lists services next Sunday June 6 with songs by the congregation and choir, readings and roll call by B F Vaughn, solos by Vivian Vaughn, and addresses by Sim F Lockridge and Rev Clippinger. The Modern Woodmen and Bainbridge band will participate as graves are decorated.
John Eitel and Son closed a deal to acquire about six acres of the Northwood Development Company holdings. The land adjoins the home and greenhouse site of Mr. Eitel.
Mrs Raymond Robbins, wife of the last Progressive chairman, asks women at the Republican National Convention in Chicago on June 4 to wear plain small hats and remove them once seated in the hall.
Bishop Frederick DeLand Leete arrives in Indianapolis from Chicago as the new governing bishop for the Indiana area of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He travels with Mrs. Leete and plans to return to Atlanta early next week before possibly moving to Indianapolis in late summer or fall. He is welcomed by district and church leaders including Dr. C. E. Bacon Dr. Orion W. Fifer Dr. J. W. Duncan Dr. G. W. Sweitzer and Dr. Phillip L. Frick.

Sunday School starts at 10:00, Session meets at 10:45 in the Manse for those seeking church unity, Morning Worship at 10:40, and Evening Service at 7:30 with the sermon on the endurance test. Woman’s Circle meets Wednesday at 2:30 with Mrs. Massey, and a Thursday prayer meeting at 7:30.
Terre Haute police arrest William Gell and Russell Harris as ringleaders of a store theft ring. Detectives find silk garments, shoes, lingerie, tools, and two guns in a rooming house. Goods valued around 1000 dollars are identified by two store owners.
Robert Stoner, 17, son of Lycurgus and wife, suffered a severe accident at the American Zinc Mill. His left hand was crushed, resulting in amputations of three fingers and one finger. Quick action by neighbor Clone Baldwin likely saved further injury. He had worked at the plant only three days.
The fortnightly club will meet Monday evening with Mrs. C. W. Otis present. Members are expected to discuss upcoming plans and duties for the season.
About 200 male students from Eastern College in Richmond Indiana plan to return to farms this summer to help harvest crops. The college announces a $275 stipend and notes few will work in factories or take extra summer courses. This is the first time in years Quaker boys largely avoid selling goods.

President Wilson vetoed the bill to establish a government budget system. He said Congress would gain power to remove the controller general, a power he believes should stay with the executive department. He returns the measure without his signature, regretting the veto but deeming Sec. 308 unconstitutional.
In Greencastle Ind on June 5 Wabash defeated DePauw 7 to 4 to even the series. Three Wabash homers fueled the comeback with a first inning three run shot with two on base and two more long balls later. The teams both now hold two wins with a tie, necessitating another meeting to decide the supremacy.
A program at Harvard Observatory announced autumn on Mars with the first snow fall of the season. Prof. William H. Pickering, stationed at Vandenberg, Jamai, described the telepresence of snow near Isidis near Syrtis Major.
Grace Black supervises Sunday School with a special children’s service at 8 00. Pastor Carnes delivers the address and Rev H C Clippinger will speak baptize and receive new members. Public welcome to all these services at 8 45.
In Washington on June 4 the House approved a resolution by 323 to 3 to repeal nearly all wartime statutes except the Lever Food Control Act and the Trading with the Enemy Act. Three Democrats Sims Garrett of Tennessee and Welling of Utah opposed the measure though concerns remained about coverage of other war laws such as the espionage act.

Hog receipts total 7,000 with prices around 14.35 at opening and 14.25 for several truck lots, top at 14.50. Pigs sold 11.50 with a 5,00 local and 2,000 outsider spread. Cattle were steady, calves 50 cents lower, sheep steady.

R. L. Ford of Indianapolis purchases two choice lots on Northwood Boulevard. The site is described as densely orchard covered and among the most desirable in the new Northwood addition.
E R Carswell, owner of D W P Home Building Plans and inventor of the same, has reserved four choice lots in Northwood and will build two modern bungalows. Ms Goverrell also holds the contract for the Prof Eckhart dwelling in Northwood and will start work next week.
