Mall Athletic Club Organized Here With Gym Plans

The Mall Athletic Club, a new organization in the city, rents the Wil son block upper floor for its opening next Wednesday. A dance hall will host social events while a gymnasium is readied with punching bags, ropes, and weights. Kid Dick Edwards will manage boxing instruction with an emphasis on fundamentals and safe behavior, and Cy Thomas will coach the baseball squad. The club, for men aged 18 to 22, aims to promote physical, social and moral welfare with wide open operations and future plans for basketball, cross country, camping, and shower facilities.

Long-sought method of killing house fly wins approval

The Department of Agriculture announced a simple method to prevent breeding of common house and typhoid flies. Sprinkling a small amount of borax daily on household and stable refuse is said to guarantee effectiveness and reduce disease from germ carrying flies. Child Hospitalized After Taylor's Curve Motorcycle Crash

Charlie Mitchell age 1y of Odell suffered a compound fracture of the left tibia and a broken left leg above the knee with additional injuries after his motorcycle collided with an automobile driven by Earl Hawthorne at Taylor's curve two miles north of Odell. Hawthorne and Cecil Jones sustained minor injuries. both vehicles were badly wrecked. Mitchell was taken to St Elizabeth's hospital in Lafayette in serious condition.

Two Automobiles Collide at Square on Monday Afternoon

Charles Huffman and Prof. J P Naylor crashed at the southeast corner of the square when both failed to predict the other’s turn. Huffman’s car suffered a bent fender and running board after nudging onto the sidewalk near Ricketts Jewelry. No injuries were reported.

Baseball Player Roy Clark Seriously Hurt in Lena Incident

Roy Clark of near Lena sustained a serious brain concussion after a baseball incident. Two boys also suffered painful injuries, though Clark's condition is considered serious.

He suffered a possible brain concussion, a deep facial gash, and head injury, but showed some improvement. The other player had severe facial bruises. Annual Picnic Season Opens Soon in Putnam County

Putnam County towns prepare for picnic season with Cloverdale hosting the home coming next Thursday at Martin Grove.
