Chautauqua Opens Here Next Sunday in Greencastle
The Central Chautauqua opens on July 17 in Greencastle with only half the needed season tickets sold to cover the guarantee. The sale is run by the Greencastle Business Women's Organization, which will receive 50 percent of receipts beyond the guarantee. At least 290 more tickets must be sold to meet the target. Citizens are urged to purchase tickets to support this Greencastle enterprise.

Hog and cattle market report with prices
Indianapolis hog receipts were 8 000 carried over from Tuesday with 2 100 cattle 1 000 calves 800 sheep 309. Hog prices opened around 16.50 with top early trades at 16.25 and heavyweights 15.50 to 16.00. Pigs sold at 14.50 and down. Local buyers bought 3 500 while outsiders took 4 000. Cattle were steady calves 50 cents lower and sheep steady.

Two Negroes Sentenced by Judge Hughes
Two men were sentenced by Judge James P. Hughes to terms ranging from one to eight years in the State Reformatory. Esan White, 17, from Springfield Illinois, and Nemo Harris, 34, from Tennessee, pleaded guilty to petit larceny after burglarizing a home and stealing a revolver and belt, and for stealing trousers in front of the Stag Store. Harris had just been released from the State Farm and was returned to detention.

Boy Scouts Return From Rainy Big Walnut Campout
Twenty Greencastle Boy Scouts led by World War Veteran Arthur Friend returned home from a several day camp near the water works pumping station. Despite storms and heavy rain, they packed their gear, marched to the square with the flag flying, and headed home with high spirits.
