Greencastle officials indicate readiness to cooperate with the State Commission and instruct F. M. Lyon to inform representatives that Greencastle will do its share in locating an institution. Council expresses willingness to grant reasonable requests.
The Greencastle city council voiced strong willingness to aid the State Penal Farm bid. Key conditions discussed include sewage disposal assurance, a proposed 8 inch water main extension, and farm participants sharing in water shortages, with council believing the plan could draw up to 1000 new residents and boost local business.
The State Commission states the council is ready to pass ordinances covering requested points at any time the commission may desire.

Farmers of Putnam county will meet in the assembly room of the courthouse on Friday evening to discuss securing an agricultural agent. T. A. Coleman, assistant superintendent of county agents in Indiana, will attend and wishes to meet all farmers and others interested in the position.
The Herald received a letter from John W. Shannon of Franklin township stating his hat is in the ring as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for county recorder. Shannon has previously run for the nomination and is well known across the county. Mrs. Ewing McLean remains homebound on South Locust Street due to illness.
The city council plans to determine the ownership of an office desk now in the possession of a former city official. Proceedings from Tuesday night detail the inquiry and debate over the furniture’s rightful owner.
Greencastle city council meets to discuss replacing the crippled dun horse used with the hose wagon and to report on the desk ownership. Public safety committee plans to report findings and seek approval for a new animal.
Committee chairman George Dobbs warns of a dangerous flue at fire department headquarters and orders repairs. Albert Huffman gains permit to build a 14 by 40 foot shed on north Indiana street. E B Caldwell’s garage request, opposed by Walter Siddons, passes 4 to 2 after site review. Caldwell says new garage improves property. City to notify Indiana street owners to repair bad sidewalks to prevent accidents.
Roy Hillis announces his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for trustee of Greencastle township. The field now includes Lincoln Snider Albert Shuey and Hillis in the race.
A dog owned by Everett Williams on Fox Ridge in Greencastle, suspected of hydrophobia, was killed Sunday after biting several other dogs. Mrs Sutherlin and her son spent the day in Indianapolis.
