George L. Hurst formerly of this city and Edna Meyers of Indianapolis are arrested in Jacksonville Florida for a December 1 bank robbery in Greencastle.

Putnam County Receives $607.71 from Auto License Funds

The Putnam County Treasurer reports that the county’s share of motor vehicle registration receipts is 607.71 dollars. The state auditor will issue a warrant soon. Putnam’s 800 miles of free gravel and macadam roads are used to determine distribution from a statewide total of 27,706 miles of improved roads.

President G. R. Grose at Last Chapel announces that the Gym Fund has been swelled by recent subscriptions. An alumnus and friends of the school subscribe, though the subscriber's name is withheld.

Ground broken planned for De Pauw gymnasium

A $2,500 gift was added to the De Pauw gymnasium fund along with $750 in small contributions, bringing subscriptions to $87,500 with $12,500 still needed. Groundbreaking was slated for early March with work to start before summer.

Indiana universities praised by state education board

The administration of affairs at Indiana University and the State Normal School at Terre Haute has been reported on favorably to the state board of education by H. G. Brown and Dr. George R. Grose. The institutions were inspected on orders of the board and both received commendation, with special emphasis on the chapel exercises held each morning at the normal school.

Miscreants Break Into High School. Four Students To Receive Graduation Certificates

Miscreants entered the high school Monday night through a fire escape window and scattered books from desks in the assembly room. Four students will receive certificates after the first semester for earning 32 credits, with diplomas awarded at next spring’s graduation. Names: Miss Marjorie Campbell, Miss Anna Shields, Orman Hammond, Halstead Selby. The high school minstrels plan a return engagement titled The Japanese Cabaret at the opera house next Friday. The Twentieth Century Club meets Thursday at 2 PM at Mrs. Clay Brothers’ home.
