George L. Hurst formerly of this city and Edna Meyers of Indianapolis are arrested in Jacksonville Florida for a December 1 bank robbery in Greencastle.
City police report strong circumstantial evidence against George L. Long alias George L. Hurst in a bank robbery case. The Jacksonville force says Hurst and Edna Meyers are photographed, while Greencastle authorities note Hurst left town with a Ford after mortgaging hogs. Family and local officials await further word as investigations unfold.
The Putnam County Treasurer reports that the county’s share of motor vehicle registration receipts is 607.71 dollars. The state auditor will issue a warrant soon. Putnam’s 800 miles of free gravel and macadam roads are used to determine distribution from a statewide total of 27,706 miles of improved roads.
President G. R. Grose at Last Chapel announces that the Gym Fund has been swelled by recent subscriptions. An alumnus and friends of the school subscribe, though the subscriber's name is withheld.
A $2,500 gift was added to the De Pauw gymnasium fund along with $750 in small contributions, bringing subscriptions to $87,500 with $12,500 still needed. Groundbreaking was slated for early March with work to start before summer.

Clarence R Ball and Alva H Wyncoop of Lebanon two DePauw students have written a new song The Sign of the Rose Wyncoop wrote the lyrics Ball composed the music Ball a well known singer has performed publicly Wyncoop pursues public speaking studies at DePauw Both are Delta Tau Delta fraternity members The song will be for sale in a few weeks
The administration of affairs at Indiana University and the State Normal School at Terre Haute has been reported on favorably to the state board of education by H. G. Brown and Dr. George R. Grose. The institutions were inspected on orders of the board and both received commendation, with special emphasis on the chapel exercises held each morning at the normal school.
Miscreants entered the high school Monday night through a fire escape window and scattered books from desks in the assembly room. Four students will receive certificates after the first semester for earning 32 credits, with diplomas awarded at next spring’s graduation. Names: Miss Marjorie Campbell, Miss Anna Shields, Orman Hammond, Halstead Selby. The high school minstrels plan a return engagement titled The Japanese Cabaret at the opera house next Friday. The Twentieth Century Club meets Thursday at 2 PM at Mrs. Clay Brothers’ home.
William Sillery seeks two thousand dollars in damages from Mrs. Serilda Huffman in an afternoon session of a damage case. An early verdict was expected as the trial concluded.
The case of William Sillery, a local barber, against Mrs. Serilda Huffman over a fall caused by icy sidewalks went to the jury after days of testimony. Plaintiff sought 2000 dollars. defense argued against liability and observers expected a quick verdict, likely for the defendant.
