The executive board of the boosters club will decide this week on whether to conduct contests to solicit support and conduct prize drawings. Committees likely will interview merchants to gauge interest and participation.
Active plans for a merchant drawing contest are to be formulated this week by the Greencastle Boosters' Club executive board. A committee will solicit local business participation, tickets will be sold with purchases, prizes funded from ticket revenue, and a meeting of the full board will decide the next steps after merchant input.
Club members discuss possible spring events to attract residents and improve community appeal in Greencastle.
Frank E Crawley age 48 of Greencastle Putnam county died at his mother's home from tuberculosis after months of illness. Survived by mother two brothers Charles and John two sisters Emma Bennett and Ellen Grimes. not married. Funeral from his mother's home Tuesday at 1 50 pm conducted by Rev B D Beck with burial Forest Hill cemetery. Also note a new electric blower for the College avenue Methodist church organ arriving for installation for next Sunday's services.

Big Four Railroad applies for permission to build a grade crossing over the old right of way just north of town on Rock Ville Road, announcing plans to tear down the overhead bridge.
The Putnam County board granted the railroad permission to remove the dangerous overhead bridge north of town and build a grade crossing on Rockville road. New commissioner Reason Larkin presided, Witt Sutherlin named board president, and Dr. W. R. Hutcheson chosen county physician.
Fred Jordan, son of Mr and Mrs Hubert Jordan, sustained a serious leg injury when a sled struck a post near the corner of College Avenue and Liberty Streets early Sunday afternoon.
Fred Jordan 17 suffered a broken leg when a sled skidded from the Morton avenue sidewalk into a telephone post at College avenue and Liberty street. Four other boys on the sled escaped serious injuries. Jordan’s leg broke above the ankle and was set by Dr C Zaring.
John L. Walker of Hammond visits the North Putnam County oil site as reports say the recent oil seep remains strong and gas presence is noticeable at all times.
The James Miller farm oil test near Bainbridge should reach the upper sand by Thursday if drilling continues at about 100 feet per day. Oil seepage remains strong, gas is present, and 700 to 800 feet is the expected depth for the oil-bearing layer. John L. Walker, president of Putnam County Oil & Gas Co, toured the site and remains optimistic about a successful well in the first week. Separately, Lemuel Birch, a Greencastle barber, left town for Florida without notice, leaving unpaid accounts and unclear reasons.
The four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Houck lost four front teeth when the sled she rode crashed into a fence near the Houck Will Houck farm north of town on Sunday afternoon. Dr W W Tucker attended the painful dental injury. Prof and Mrs R A Ogg left for Evansville for institute work visiting counties in the south state returning next Saturday. Attorney C T Peck was in Indianapolis on business.
A social New Year’s Eve dinner at Mr. and Mrs. George Landes on East Washington Street drew County Superintendent L. G. Wright and Greencastle teachers as guests. The event featured flowers, an American flag, a five course menu, a guitar player, musical performances, and a raffle-like guessing contest highlighting anatomy.
