A Hanneman from Beencastle files a clemency petition with the State Board of Pardons asking for life sentence relief. He seeks executive mercy amid ongoing review and public interest.
Among twenty two petitions for clemency filed with the State Board of Pardons three come from Putnam County. Arthur Hanneman, sentenced September 12 1918 in Putnam Circuit Court to life for rape, seeks clemency though he was 17 at sentencing. Charles H Shepherd and Edward Bledsoe, both State Farm escapees, also seek clemency for running away from the State Farm.
Sunday School at 9 36 a m with Grant Scott as superintendent. Regular morning and evening services led by the pastor with the evening topic on soul arithmetic. The message asks what profit comes from gaining the world if the soul is lost. All are invited to attend.

The body of E. Morgan, a colored man, who died at Penal Park after a short illness of pneumonia, was ordered sent to the Indiana Medical College at Bloomington this morning. The body had been held at the Hanna undertaking establishment for relatives to claim since Wednesday.
The funeral of Max Bailey infant son of Mr and Mrs Roy Bailey took place this morning at the couple's home south of town. Burial followed at Centennial Cemetery in Clovdale.
Washington reports that a Senate backed inquiry into Federal Trade Commission employees tied to the Chicago meat packers is near launch. Charles W. Miller has pressed the case for thoroughness, with Senator Watson and the commission aligned for sharp scrutiny and possible legislation.

Mrs C C Hurst and her niece Miss Phoebe Conley spent the day in Indianapolis. Miss Conley attended the state luncheon of the Alpha Phi held in Indianapolis today.
Sunday February 22 marks George Washington birthday. Since the holiday falls on Sunday this year the post office will close on Monday as the holiday per postmaster announcement.
Protestant pastors and the prayer meeting committee completed home prayer meetings in twenty districts for the evangelistic campaign opening March 4. Each district assigns a leader and two assistants to organize 20 half hour meetings from 7 to 7 30 pm over three weeks beginning February 24. Meetings welcome all denominations and genders, with Monday announcements of locations.
Edward H. Meyer, auditor for the Stone Crushing Concern, died at his home in Indianapolis Friday after a battle with pneumonia. Meyer was a longtime official in the firm and his passing comes as a loss to the company and local business community.
Edward H. Meyer longtime auditor of the A. C. Stone and Lime Co dies at 1324 North New Jersey Street after ten days of double pneumonia. He was born December 30 1858 in Indianapolis and lived here his entire life. He is survived by his widow Katie Erdeitmeyer three brothers A B Meyer Charles F Meyer and A J Meyer. Friends may call at the home 3 to 6 tomorrow and funeral services are at 2 PM Monday under the Raper Drill Corps. Burial Crown Hill Cemetery. Meyer often visited Greencastle to look after company interests.
The Putnam County Shorthorn Breeders Association held a noon banquet in Vermillion Banquet room with about 40 local members and 10 from Parke County. Toastmaster Sim Lockridge, a veteran breeder, and J J Johnson of Shorthorn World attended and spoke. Members gathered at the county agent's office then proceeded to the decorated hall.
Indianapolis receipts list hogs 4 500 with light hogs up 25 cents and heavy hogs steady. Cattle, calves, and sheep also traded with calves down up to 50 cents to one dollar, while lightweights and pigs showed varied moves. Kingan & Co absent early as others bought 1 500 hogs and outsiders matched that volume.

Cloverdale Cemetery Association transfers a cemetery lot to Jessa Evans for 50 dollars. Mate Blaydes and wife transfer 10 acres in Jackson township to Jay Cooper and wife for 4400 dollars. Alva E. Miller and wife transfer land in Madison township to Ora J. Adams and wife for 4600 dollars. Charles Kelly, former deputy treasurer residing in Jefferson township, was in Pasay on business. Mr and Mrs Jacob Young of Tangiers Indiana were guests of Mr and Mrs H S Werneke on Friday. Edna Sherfey of Bloomington will spend the weekend in this city, guest of Miss Ina Crump.
Pastor Guy C. McHenry announces Sunday School at 9:30 and Morning Worship at 10:80 with Evangelists Geo and Effie Moore staying through the Sabbath. They will lead both services and Mrs Moore will preach, inviting all to attend.
Ex Senator Albert J Beveridge graduates from DePauw in 1885 will deliver the Founders and Benefactors Day address in McHarry Hall at 3 15 Sunday. Dean McCutchan arranged special musical numbers for the observance and service program. Local sorority members attend Indiana polio state dance. Greek fraternities plan February banquets in Indianapolis. Strain tops freshman grades with 45 points. DePauw basketball shifts schedule to face Michigan Aggies and Notre Dame in upcoming games.

Evangel’st Geo and Effie Moore will lead the morning and evening services at the Nazarene church in Greencastle tomorrow. The event is welcomed by church members and friends as a special treat, with a cordial invitation extended to all. A hand tinted photo was stolen from a Hireshberg studio display case, joining recent thefts from Mr Cammack’s show cases and sparking concerns of a photo thief in the city.

Greencastle High School routed Wiley High School 80 to 7 as York scored 14 and Carl Allen 10 field goals. Wiley lacked a home gym and struggled throughout the game with substitutions guiding Greencastle to victory. The teams met again next Friday at Martinsville.
Washington's birthday observance includes a 7 30 p m patriotic service in the Presbyterian Church tomorrow. Captain Martyn H Shute of the De Pauw ROTC will deliver the address and share military insights. Cassandra Love will give a patriotic reading and Irma Hand a solo. Patriotic organizations are invited.
