The case of James W. Browning seeking $3,000 in damages from the Vandalia Railroad ends abruptly Tuesday afternoon. George Wilson believed the railroad could not be held liable in the suit.
A lawsuit seeking 3000 for injuries of James W Browning as Vandalia Railroad section hand ends after Browning admitted telling others his injury came from a shovel not an ax. Attorney George Wilson withdrew, citing inconsistent testimony. Also notes Ex Senator Cannon to speak on Mormonism and reform in several Indiana cities in early March.
Bainbridge man Frank Nelson was arrested Monday and charged with illegal sale of liquor. Before Judge James P. Hughes he pleaded not guilty. Trial was set for Monday March 16. Nelson is represented by attorney C. C. Gillen.
In Chicago on Feb 17 Miss Margaret Quayle daughter of Bishop William A Quayle of St Paul died at a city hospital while her father raced to her bedside on a fast train. She had been in hospital two weeks after radium treatment for a cancerous leg growth and was being returned home for rest before continuing the journey. Mrs Quayle was with her daughter at death. She formerly attended DePauw University and had many friends here.
Trial of the case in which a local man is charged with selling a mortgaged cow will be heard in Putnam Circuit Court. John Rawley will serve as special judge.
The State of Indiana vs Daniel C Brackney will begin trial tomorrow in the Circuit Court. Brackney is charged with selling mortgaged property including a cow mortgaged to Jackson Boyd. Attorneys for Brackney are T T Moore and Fay Hamilton. Prosecutor William Sutherlin and witness Jackson Boyd will present for the state. A special prosecutor W H H Cullen will assist. Venue changed from Judge James P Hughes. Judge John Rawley of Brazil will preside.
The Masonic Opera House at Bainbridge will be dedicated Friday February 27 with a grand afternoon and night opening. Bainbridge Lodge No 74 F and A M organizes the events. Monon trains will stop for the crowd.
Mrs. Elizabeth McGaughey wife of Dr. W M McGaughey files a suit seeking $15,000 for injuries from an Indianapolis accident on November 18, 1913. The Interurban is named in the filing as defendant in the case brought today.
Mrs Elizabeth McGaughey wife of Dr W M McGaughey filed suit in Indianapolis alleging she was thrown from a Ben Hur traction car on November 18 1915 at Washington street and Capital avenue. She claims permanent injuries requiring operations with doctors predicting she will never fully recover. Her attorneys are C C Gillen and Hays Murphy. McGaughey has been confined to home since the accident.
Dr T A Sigler M J Murphy and J G Martin will see the stage production Peg O Heart at Indianapolis tonight. The trio of presenters heads a local engagement promising comedy and music at the theater.
