Martindale delivers an excellent address on "The Boy" in the courthouse Wednesday evening. The event features an orchestra providing music to the audience.
Greencastle events announce two or three meetings at the Christian church on Monday February 12 with Dr E W Allen of Cincinnati and Mr Shaw a foreign missionary. Stereoptical views to follow with public invitations across Roachdale Fillmore Manhattan Antioch Somerset Cloverdale and all county congregations. Oyster supper Friday 5 to 8 pm for twenty five cents a bowl. Sermon at Manhattan church Sunday 2 pm Endeavor formation Sunday 6 30 pm with many youths invited to join a great new society.
The South Western Traction Co plans a line from Mooresville through Monrovia Hall Alaska Quincy Cataract to Spencer with a 2 percent subsidy vote in Harrison Taylor Jennings Montgomery and Washington townships. Commissioners will order elections soon as petitions seek subsidies. outcome likely to pass and spur construction.
Miss Voliva purchases the interest of Miss Anna O Brien in the O Brien and Voliva millinery business and will operate the shop hereafter. O Brien has run the millinery business at the same location for over eleven years.
Members establish the Putnam County horticultural society this morning and elect officers for the coming year. The event marks organized effort among orchard men to promote local agriculture and civic activities.
The Putnam County Horticultural Society was organized this afternoon with over thirty members. Officers elected for the year are R. A. Ogg president, R. M. Hazelett secretary and treasurer, Professor Ogg, R. M. Hazelett, James Carver, Mrs. S. A. Hazelett, and John McFarland as executive committee. Dues are 50 cents yearly, plus 60 cents for state organization membership. Members listed include James Carver John McFarland D. Allen S. A. Hazelett R. M. Hazelett Professor R. A. Ogg S. A. Hays Clay Brothers and others. The first meeting date will be announced later and a state speaker will be procured.
Large numbers of DePauw students flowed back to Greencastle today after a ten day intersemester break. Trains carried many travelers and new students registered as the last semester's matriculation began. Freshmen entering now largely came from high school graduates with Christmas ceremonies.
Under Brotherhood auspices and in observance of Lincoln's birthday, Trinity Methodist Episcopal church will host an address next Sunday night by Senator Francis Childen of Greencastle on The Spirit of Lincoln and Present Day Problems.

Hans P Freece a Columbia graduate and son of a former Mormon elder will speak at the Presbyterian church this evening on Mormonism Exposed. He is noted for early life among Mormons and a detailed study of their religion and habits.
The speaker is described as a well informed national figure whose mother was the second wife of a Mormon elder. He works with the American Civic Reform League to amend the U S Constitution to make polygamy a federal crime, as current enforcement is only state based. The address is expected to draw a large audience with no admission fee though offerings may be taken.
Governor Marshall lauds Indiana finances highlighting a $1 080 000 four year tax savings, paid state bonds, and no tax advances by county treasurers. He credits a genuine business administration, continuity since 15 years. The address targets taxpayers and emphasizes prudent fiscal policy.
The College Avenue church schedules a big day with a 9 45 lecture on Savanarolo by Dr. Stephenson. The morning service features a sermon titled The Bible in Action by the pastor. Jessie Weik will deliver an evening lecture on Abraham Lincoln during the evening service.

Local businessmen who backed the Brazil Factory Club to locate the Northwestern Can Factory faced judgments in Clay County Circuit Court. Sureties on a $10,000 note were ordered to pay $10,695, while other sureties on a $1,150 note owed $248.87. The case arose after a Chicago bank suit linked to a misdirected $2,500 draft.
Talburt Sutherlin aged 66 died at his home in Franklin township about 6 o clock Thursday morning after six months illness. Funeral services are set for Saturday morning. Survived by widow and six children five sons Samuel Joseph Oll Thomas and daughter Miss Kittie Sutherlin. A longtime Democrat respected in the party.
Paris Illinois February 7 Frank T O Hairs stance against running for congress with Joseph Cannon stands but supporters push to collect signatures for his primary petition. He is a cousin of R L O Hair of Greencastle and well known locally.
Funeral services for Mrs. E J Nelson were conducted at her son James B Nelson’s residence on East Seminary Street at 10 o clock this morning. The body arrived here Wednesday evening.
The funeral for Mrs Eliza Jean Nelson, who died at her daughter's New York home, was held at 10 am today at her son James B Nelson's residence on East Seminary Street. Clergy Dr H A Gobin Rev K W Robbins and Dr W W Swahlen led a private service attended by relatives and a few close friends. Burial followed in Forest Hill cemetery. Mrs C C Hurst sang during the services. The body arrived Wednesday night from New York aboard the Big Four, escorted by Judge and Mrs Penfield.
Dr H A Gobin vice president DePauw University gave a talk on Dickens for the centennial birth anniversary celebrated this morning by high school students and teachers in chapel. The remarks traced Dickens life from poverty to literary prominence and underscored the author as a great portrayer of human life.
