Greencastle business leaders organize a shotgun guard to protect shops after daylight robbery fears. At least thirty guns and buckshot will be stored in various locations around the square with five organizers trained to respond within minutes.
The Marcus Show of 1920 heads from San Francisco and Los Angeles to New York on a three train transport for an engagement at Indianapolis English Opera House the week of December 27. The production features nearly one hundred performers and a special orchestra with vivid costumes and stage pictures praised by the San Francisco Examiner.
Greencastle school officials have taken no action after a high school basketball player fought a visiting player and later assaulted a spectator. Citizens question the school board’s handling with Gene Hamrick reportedly backing the student, prompting concern about the example set for other pupils.

Cleveland court hears May E Neely testify she saw William H McGannon shoot Harold S Kagy and that the judge offered $500 to keep silent and retract statements. Neely said her sister Louis Webb heard the bribe offer while in a closet. The testimony occurs as the sensational second degree murder trial continues.
The Presbyterian Sunday School Christmas program will be held Thursday at 7 30 PM. Committee members Mrs W H Graham Mrs Ida Cooper and Miss Lena Eitel organized the event with Santa Claus expected. The program features a series of recitations songs and a dialogue with participant names and pieces listed.
The Greencastle Bear Cats traveled to Amo Tuesday night and lost 38 to 27 to Amo Five in a clean and competitive game. The independent local basketball team showed effort but could not overcome the host's lead.

Lena Miss Sarah Rowings and Georgia Bettis visited Carbon on Thursday and Friday then Brazil on Saturday to visit friends. Emerson Parr was in Brazil Monday. Bert Brattain Ida McElroy joined in Greencastle on Saturday. C E Vinzant made a business trip to Indianapolis Saturday. Bert Morlan and spouse returned home Monday after visiting John Sexton Elza Morlan families in Carbon. Harold Vinzant attended a Christmas party in Green castle Saturday night. Jane Mitchell returned from Rockville Thursday after two weeks with George Rohn and Walter Campbell families.
Henry Newgent, janitor at the Second Ward School, was found unconscious in the furnace room of the basement around 6 PM Tuesday. His daughter Goldie located him after he failed to return home, and Dr. Tucker diagnosed paralysis with the condition described as critical. The incident likely occurred two hours before discovery, as schools closed early for a movie outing.
The Baptist Sunday school plans a Christmas service Thursday night for the church school, BYPU and families. Santa Claus will appear and a Christmas tree will hold gifts for all. A Christmas offering will be taken for European Relief.

Ladoga December 17 The Family Theatre to show three reels of comedy for children under thirteen on Christmas Day December 25 at 5 PM. Admission is free for kids and adults are not admitted. A free Christmas treat to ensure all town children attend.
Indianapolis chief of police Jerry E. Kinney ordered a cleanup of loafers and suspicious looking characters from pool rooms dry drink places hotels and lodging houses to curb a wave of daring robberies in the past week. Special police and plainclothes squads were dispatched to arrest any suspicious persons tonight.
Indiana's deaths in the first eleven months rose by 2,301 to 36,331 compared with the same period in 1919. Pneumonia caused 3,671 deaths and influenza 2,149, with influenza spiking in February at 1,282 deaths and pneumonia at 1,226.
Indianapolis December 20 thirty eight per cent of Indiana children ages fourteen and fifteen are employed. Of 118000 youths in that age group 45000 have joined wage earners according to figures from the department of women and children of the state industrial board made public today.
Hog receipts reached 10 000 with prices generally 25 cents higher at the market opening in Indianapolis. Extreme sales ranged 9 25 to 10 00, with more hogs at 9 50 than any other price. Pigs 10 25, sows 8 25 lower. about 7 500 hogs sold to outsiders and 4 000 to local killers. Calves 50 cents lower, best 13 50. sheep and lambs steady with top lambs at 9 00.

Mrs. C. W. Otis will lead a special Carol Vesper service at College Avenue church on Sunday afternoon at 4 o clock.
Two unmasked bandits robbed the People's State Bank in Carlisle Indiana at 3 pm, escaping with $600 to $800 after shooting Ezra Latshaw, 36, the bookkeeper, who was hospitalized in Sullivan with a non serious abdomen wound. A farmer Perry Wolfe fired on the robbers as they fled toward a car.
Mrs. Ethel Ferrand Pruitt 40 wife of Alva Pruitt died last Friday at home in Bainbridge after a year and a half with cancer. She was a Somerset church member born in Putnam County and survived by her husband six sons, her mother, siblings, and others. Funeral held at Brick Chapel conducted by Rev. Marshall.
On December 21 the British battleships Ajax and Conqueror under Admiral De Robeck left port fully armed for war service. They are reported to cruise in Greek waters as part of British naval operations near Eastern theaters.
