John W. Smith Ends Life With Shotgun Near Crawfordsville
John W. Smith, 77, apparently taking ill health into account, died by self inflected gunshot in a wood shed behind his home on the Greencastle road. The body was found by his wife about 3:30 PM. Coroner indicated self inflicted death. Survived by wife Martha and three sons Joseph Harry and Fred and three grandchildren. Funeral set Friday at 2 PM at the residence led by Rev. J. H. Wilson.

Escaped Farm Prisoner Captured in Brazil
An 80 year old escaped prisoner Robert Cruse was nabbed near the Knightsville tower on the Pennsylvania railroad at about 5 45 this morning by Officers McGinty and Vice. Cruse had fled the penal farm last night and sought help to contact his sister in Terre Haute to meet him in Brazil. A farm guard arrived later, Cruse’s home is Henderson Kentucky.

Accident may cost eyesight at Indiana Portland plant
