Will Lockridge of this city, injured in an accident about three weeks ago, is reported to be better than in recent days. He is at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis where pneumonia has developed and raises concern for his weakened condition. Mr and Mrs Andrew Lockridge traveled from Kansas City to be with him.

Hog receipts total 5 500 with prices generally 25 cents lower at opening and some sales 50 cents below Saturday's highs. Top hog price 11 dollars, scale 9 75 to 10 75. Gun Battle Near Rushville Kills Troxell and Wounds Stacy
In Rush County Indiana near Occident four miles north of Rushville a gun battle occurred as Sheriff E M Jones and Deputy Hugh Jones tried to arrest three men, including John Griffin. Bert Troxell of Knightstown was killed when a bullet hit him in the face and penetrating the brain. Archie Stacy of Raysville was shot in the hand and Griffin and Stacy were arrested after the car left the ditch. The suspects were intoxicated and a white mule was found in the auto.

Greencastle public schools will start the fall term on September 5 as renovation continues on the First and Second ward buildings. The First ward work, including a new steam heating plant and ventilating system, is nearing completion by September 1 with about $30,000 spent. Indoor toilets are added at both wards and Martha J. Ridpath building. Desks are being treated with a Casmire process to kill germs and refurbish woodwork.

Believes Byrum Robbed Home of Mill Grove Man
Clyde Gray of Mill Grove tells Greencastle police in Brazil that Ernest Byrum of Owen County is the likely thief in the August 9 break in at Gray’s Mill Grove residence. Gray says a rifle a gold watch and chain and $15 disappeared after he was away from home. Local reports place Byrum near the house that night and Gray travels to Brazil to verify traces of the stolen property.

Road Bandits Kill Plantsman Near Junge
In Muncie Indiana Irvin Parrish 87 was shot and killed by three masked highwaymen near a milliner shop two miles west of Muncie as he traveled with Lavaughn Cunningham 20.
