The Purple Robed Choir directed by Professor K R Umfleet performed at the Indiana Federation of Music Clubs state convention in the Lincoln Hotel Indianapolis on the second day of a three day meeting. A mass choir will close with the grand choral festival at Broadway Methodist Church directed by Percival Owen. Over 500 federation members from Brazil Muncie Crawfordsville Tipton Fort Wayne Connersville Greencastle Ladoga and Indianapolis attend festival programs.
The forecast calls for fair and warmer conditions tonight and Friday with partly cloudy skies and a chance of showers in the extreme northwest portion, followed by cooler air in that region.
Bloomington Indiana April 10 two educational conferences to be held at Indiana University April 17 18 19 under the school of education. About 250 educators expected. The elementary supervision conference and the conference on educational measurements feature prominent professors and state educators from Indiana University Chicago and Michigan. Friday evening visitors will be entertained at the university.

The Green Castle area plans a four church Passion Week observance with speakers from Indianapolis and DePauw University. Events run April 14 to 18 including a candlelight Lord's Supper on Thursday and a three hour Good Friday service. Chamber of Commerce backs coordination to help workers attend. Also: True-Hixon Lumber sues Samuel A. Skelton for $125 on a mechanic's lien.

Between 75 and 100 men from Christian churches of Putnam county attended a dinner meeting at the local church on Wednesday evening. The event, part of a series sponsored by the Business Men's Commission, featured music and speeches led by Ora Day of Fillmore with Kiwanis quartet performances. Speakers included Dr. Joseph Todd of Indiana University, Rev. John Horne of Terre Haute, and Rev. Cecil Frankly. Representatives came from Russellville, Roachdale, Bainbridge, Fillmore, and Brazil.
Walter Heath, Greencastle contractor, was the lowest bidder to build a 30 by 12 foot heated and lighted loading enclosure for the Greencastle post office. Seven bids were filed with bids among the top three differing by about five dollars. E R Bartley recommends Heath to the treasury supervising architect H A Sherwood in Washington, with bids opened at 10 this morning.
Principal Frank N. Jones announced a tentative list of Greencastle high school seniors who will receive diplomas at year end. The list shows eighty-one students, including thirty-five boys and forty-six girls, with names of graduates and four students who completed required work last summer and may participate in commencement if they wish.

Lebanon Indiana April 10 Edward Ricketts 39 was sentenced to four months on the penal farm after pleading for mercy for his dependants. The court learned the dependants were five setting hens he said required his care. Judge John W Hornaday ordered the prisoner to jail pending transfer to Putnamville.
The Grand Theater in Bluffton, also housing the Union Traction Company station, was destroyed by a blaze that began in the balcony and left only the brick walls standing. Loss estimated at 50,000 dollars, includes a $10,000 talking picture machine with no insurance, and the Union News Company stock.
William Francis Garrett 82 of Fillmore died at his home after a year long illness. He lived with his daughter Lela Garrett. Funeral services Saturday at 2 50 pm at the First Christian church Fillmore with Rev H A Sherrill of Greencastle officiating. Burial in Fillmore Cemetery. Surviving: two sons Joseph and Lewis both of Fillmore two daughters Lela and Lucy both of Indianapolis school teacher. nine grandchildren. three great grandchildren. three brothers and two sisters all in Illinois.

The Greencantle Country Club will open for the season on Saturday April 19. The grounds are ready and greens rebuilt making a improved course. The home of Mrs. Claude Sears north of Greencastle was destroyed by fire on Wednesday afternoon. The old Parker home, a weatherboarded log house, lost both structure and contents. Two small Sears children were in the house and were rescued by neighbor Mr. Abbott. Mrs. Sears found the ruins at 4 pm and the family, wards of the county, went to Otto Sears’ home for the night. the household includes the mother and four girls, oldest 15.
Claude Query of South Greencastle is held by the local police for investigation on an alleged public indecency charge. Authorities say the case involves potential violations of public order and morality.
