A crowd of over seven hundred gathered west of Bainbridge to capture a panther blamed for sheep killings. The animal escaped with two foxes, proving to be Brer Wolf, a large gray wolf. James Nelson pursued on horseback but failed to overtake it.
The record lists 1st Ward Thomas Abrams and L M Hanna. 2nd Ward W H Ragan and George E Blake. 3rd Ward John R Miller and Charles Lueteke. It notes DePauw University buildings, Colored school principal W F Tiester, High School principal Martha Ridpath, and various depots with agents and street locations in Bloomington.
Yesterday all departments closed as Rev. Van Anda of Indianapolis preached on prayer to a large audience. He affirmed belief in a personal Savior requires prayer and urged colleges as pillars of government and evangelism. Evening meetings in campus halls drew crowded attendance and will continue until further notice.
The senior class historian prepairs autobiographies for publication in the Mirage. Prof. Jenkins traveled to Bloomington with Dr. Jordan yesterday and will return tomorrow. A letter from Nye and Riley confirms they will engage every night for the rest of the season.
The Greencastle group at Cumberland Gap reports a colder climate than here. James Frazier plastering Francis Murphy to live in Indianapolis. Thomas E William J and John Murphy align with Indianapolis Fence Co. Their father Francis Murphy plans to move to the city as well. Notes on medical cure and Bradfield Regulator promotion included.
Numerous residents and visitors are recorded in the city including Mrs Pat Grady and Miss Sadie Miles visiting relatives, Danville residents C F Hall and Mr Madloch in town, Gen Williamson seen on streets, and Drs Martin and Curtiss at the funeral of Dr S F Gillette in Indianapolis. Several others travel to Indianapolis Quincy Blooming Grove and Grand Rapids for events and visits.
Lafayette pastor Rev. W. P. Kane denounces sensational papers as a societal and church threat. The Lafayette Courier notes his anger at omnipresent reporters and libel law gaps while praising city press watchdogs for exposing hypocrisy and crime.
A Jackson street flagman, a circus tent near the courthouse, and a fountain of cologne water at the Annex appear as vivid items. The piece calls for smaller farms and more farmers, urging unity for city welfare and a move away from chronic hard times.
