State Drivers License Examiner in Green River

The state drivers license examiner will be in Green River at the library to receive applications and give examinations for operators and chauffeurs licenses on Monday October 31 Monday November 14 Monday November 28 and Monday December 12.

Green River Man Injured In Highway Accident

Harold Anderson proprietor of the Standard Oil Service Station in Green River was seriously injured Sunday night when his pickup plunged into an embankment at a railroad crossing east of Sunnyside junction on Highway 50 and 6. He was thrown into the windshield with cuts on the forehead face and throat, remained in the truck for over twenty minutes, and was hospitalized in Price. His son C. K. Anderson said the steering locked as the truck crossed the crossing, sending it left into the embankment. Harold would be in the hospital about eight days with bruises, two broken ribs, and other injuries.

Sovereign Uranium Gas and Oil Co officers inspected uranium properties in the Moab area last weekend and signaled potential new interests. Dr. Allen Bronston of Fort Worth, company president, and CM. Wood of New York City joined by Philip August of Dagget Securities, underwriter, with existing claims in Nevada and Santa Fe prospecting permits.

Drive-In Theater Robbery Suspected by Local Police

The Drive In Theater south of Green River was robbed between 6 30 AM and 4 30 PM Friday October 21. Mrs. Joe Allen reported the south snack bar window pried open with candy gum and pop stolen totaling about five dollars and a box of pennies left untouched. Children suspected. prior July theft ranged 15 to 20 dollars with 30 pounds of weeners and buns taken. Sr. George Wiehing handled the case in the marshal's absence.

Turkey Shoot to Prize 100 Dressed Turkeys at Green River event

The Green River Service Club hosts the third annual Turkey Shoot on Sunday November 6 at the Rodeo Grounds west of the old school. Events include Trap and 2 Target shooting with 100 dressed turkeys as prizes and a Remington Wing Master 12 gauge Deluxe shotgun raffled at 2 pm. Proceeds aid a Christmas Treat. Santa will hand out candy bags to children.

Alma Mater Song Contest at Green River High School

The Green River High School Student Council sponsors a contest to add a solemn school song for commencements. Open to all, entries may use original words with familiar music or original music. Submissions due December 1, 1953, with a $10 prize. The current song remains official. Student Council members include Arden Sherrill and others.
