Old Ferron Landmark Story Highlights Pioneer Struggles
A decaying Ferron Utah log cabin built 75 years ago by Bishop Frederick Olsen for his second wife is recalled as a hospital during a severe pioneer accident. Steve Williams broke his leg while hauling wood near Emery and, with no nearby doctor, Dr. Allen amputated the limb at the home in Ferron using no anesthetic. Williams survived and later wore an artificial leg.
