Region five student councils launch a plan to rate and reward sportsmanship across ten league games. Written ballots from school officials and spectators will determine scores, with Arden Sherrill and others collecting ballots after each Friday night game in Green River.
In a letter to the editor the Old Prospector recalls muzzle loading rifles and cap and ball revolvers from his boyhood, noting cheap prices and smoky black powder. He also criticizes liberal figures in unions and warns against socialism and communism, urging vigilance to defend democracy.
The December Utah Economic and Business Review highlights Utah’s central Western position and strong resources drawing Thermoid, Bar-Bizon, and Eitel-McCullough to locate plants. It notes skilled labor, high living standards, abundant resources, and Utah’s appeal for business and industry as defense chiefs show interest.

Community Church Presbyterian plans services with Reverend Manning visiting Green River January 8. Catholic Mass by Father Lebranch from Price at Midland Hotel at 3:00 PM.
In the Gold Medal Tournament held December 28 to 30 with eight teams, Moab Creeps won first place, Green River's Feeble Five took second, and Coyote Kids finished third. Huntington, Monticello, Helper, Wellington, two Moab teams, and two Green River teams competed. trophies will be presented on arrival. Sponsor: Jon Kent Ross of Rosses Service Station.
