Loss of styrofoam buoys worth over $100 through malicious acts and arson doubles as vandalism at Green Lake. A driver allegedly rammed a craft into a buoy, one buoy was torched with a firecracker, and another was stolen. Residents condemn the mindless destruction harming property and the lake community’s reputation.
Dud Savoks tunes a trump for the cub scouts at a camp out while a caravan of floating bogs disrupts lakefront play. Residents display For Sale signs and real estate bravado. Bob and Barney Swan describe motor boat crews steering bogs away from shore. County crew shapes highway grounds for the fair, trucks and snow plows depart. Gasoline prices rise a penny per gallon over three weeks. Drivers access the fair lot via Green Lake first street with Hill Street to the enlarged rear Lot. Van Rhyn's entrance gains a bright blue canopy with red and black stripes on Hill Street.
William H. Whitehead of North Chicago, 44, arrested on Green Lake for fishing using another person’s license. He borrowed a companion’s license in Chicago before Green Lake, pleaded guilty, paid 100 dollars plus costs, and appeared in Justice Court before Justice Fred C. Bradwell. Conservation Warden Bill W. Baier made the arrest. Whitehead admitted he wanted to save the nonresident license fee. Sweet Adelines rehearsed Monday ahead of Wednesday concert. Carpenters moved out of Spare Lee's Motel this week, releasing 10 room units.
