Missionary bishop Japan plan and Africa outreach schemes
Detailed excerpts describe Rev Edward Bickersteth leaving a Suffolk parish to serve as a missionary bishop in Japan. The piece outlines Bishop William Taylor’s Africa missions, a negotiated plan with a great chief to supply schools, instructors, land, housing, and tuition without pay, funded by local effort and school produce.
