Marlborough building breaks ground on Ninth avenue site
Ground broken for a Marlborough building on Ninth avenue just south of the Coronado. The structure will be 80 feet long with a 50 foot depth, leaving 50 foot empty ends and expected completion to the corner of Tenth Street in a year. It aims to be a high class men’s rooming house with 16 second floor rooms, a first floor store and cafe, and a nine foot deep basement under the sidewalk for storage.

City Salaries Fixed by Council for Ensuing Year
The city council readjusted salaries with little change overall. The treasurer shifts to a fixed 25 dollars monthly plus 3 dollars per quarterly and 5 dollars per annual report. The street supervisor becomes 85 dollars monthly, a rise of 20 dollars yearly. Other officials keep current pay. A separate water superintendent may be hired once the water works are finished due to heavy workload.

Swedish Lutheran Concert Delights Local Parishioners
The Swedish Lutheran ladies chorus held a second concert last Thursday at Pastor Rev. O. W. Gustafson's home. The program featured piano solos by Mr. Lindgren, violin and vocal numbers, readings, duets, trios, and choir pieces with contributions from Alma Nelson Alma Anderson Blanche Gustafson Anna Anderson Oscar Sandquist and others. A $21.35 organ fund collection followed the event, with about 75 attendees and social time with refreshments.
